Feger and Erb made the drive from Granite City. Heckenast, Drake, Walden, Weaver also in attendance. Shirley, Pierce, Spatola, B.Sheppard, Babb, Unzicker, Henry, Korte, Moyer Jr, and Kloos all decided to stay at Granite City.

Although Feger lead the entire race, he ran a very smart race. He handled the lapped traffic smoothly and push the car hard when he had to. I was surprised that the bigger purse didn't attract some of the other drivers from Granite City. Kudos to the Peoria promoter getting the LM feature on the track by 9pm.

Notes....Todd Bennett was impressive finishing 3rd

Steve Lance Jr busted up his car...started from the rear in back up #48 Rayburn.
Heckenast drove the car hard on the cushion all race.
Maybe 6 cars on the lead lap at the checkers.

Good track surface for the 100 lap event

    30 late models

Feger led all 100 laps but the battle was between Bennett and Heckenast for 3rd. Classic high-low battle with Heckenast on top and Bennett on the bottom which last for nearly the entire 2nd half of the race. They ran side-by-side for 20 laps. Bennett nearly got by Erb for 2nd on the last lap. Feger worked traffic masterfully all night long. Tack was terrific.

    Wink lead lap cars

Weaver beat Joesph Hughs by a nose at the flag for 6th and 7th last two cars on lead lap. Hughs in his Bob Pierce latemodel has been running good lately last two times he's been at Macon speedy he ran 2nd . Won heat race at kankakee. Set fast time at Macon also .The young 16 year old has been up on the wheel GET R DONE. ..... Looks like he could really be a factor in 2012 .

Lance Jr and Dauber tore the hell out of their cars last night.
I was in the stands--Couldn't tell if Dauber squeezed him or Lance was impatient.?

Steve broke the rear end and it sent him into the wall. Dauber was already pretty close to leaning on him so he ended up tore up as well.

i want to congratulate curt and his staff on a successful 2011 season. the races that i attended , it looked as if car counts have increased. last nights race, no one had anything for feger, but bennett and hughes made things interesting. early contender, donny walden had a stout car until rear end troubles forced him out. look forward to next year and i thank you for allowing me to cover peoria speedway.
