Need info in old South Carolina tracks
I am leaving for Charleston SC on Saturday and plan to stop by Cherokee on the way down for the $5,000 to win Ultimate show. I would also like to do a little track hunting but need some info (directions, visible or not, is it accessible, ect) on these old tracks:
Coastal Speedway - Charleston (1949-1950)
Columbia Speedway - Gaston (1983-1998)
Confederate Motor Speedway - Woodruff (1952-1957)
Confederate Motor Speedway - Woodruff (1970-1993)
Edmond-Lexington Speedway - West Columbia (1962)
Gaffney Speedway - Gaffney (1940's)
Gator Speedway - Goose Creek
Mountain View Speedway - Cowpens (1949-1960)
Newberry Speedway - Newberry (1952-1979)
North Speedway - North (1963-1964)
Service-Stephens Speedway - Gaffney (1953)
Union Speedway - Union (1950's)
Also plan to stop by Buffalo Motor Speedway and Sugar Creek Motor Speedway in Buffalo. Thanks for any information.
racing I do is going to the track I luv to watch
Confederate Motor Speedway is located in Woodruff, SC on Racetrack Road. From Charleston take I-26 to exit 41 (Highway 92) towards Enoree. Hwy 92 will deadend at Hwy 221 - turn right on Hwy 221 follow that about 8 miles to Harris Bridge Road turn left on Harris Bridge and then right on Racetrack Road. She is pretty grown up but can still be found if you know what you are looking for.
This was a gallery my girlfriend shot of me at Confederate from February of last year. http://photosbyali.smugmug.com/Racin...81935892_nSwNj - this where I grew up.
Newberry Speedway is located in Newberry, SC on Adelaide Street. From Charleston take I-26 to exit 76 (Hwy 219) turn left on 219 to Wilson Road (next road past Wal-Mart). Turn left on Wilson Road. After turning left go to 2nd light and turn right onto Dixie Drive. Take next right onto Adelaide Street. Really nothing left of her. The built a Rescue Squad Station on what was the back straightaway.
Good luck and have fun.
Thanks for the info. Is there anything left of the 1st Confederate Motor Speedway?
Same location as far as I know.
Ok thanks. As of right now, we are gonna do Gaffney, Buffalo, Sugar Creek, Newberry, Columbia and Gator in Goose Creek (if I can find any info).
I would really love to see Confederate but that would add miles from Gaffney to Charleston. I will have to plan Confederate and Mountain View in my next trip.
The "New Columbia Speedway" in Gaston, was off of highway 601, I think.

Columbia, Confederate, Gaffney, Mountain View & Newberry are all still visible. I was also told that the first Confederate Motor Speedway was on the same site as the 2nd Confederate. North Speedway is no longer visible.
I've yet to find any information on Coastal, Edmond-Lexington, Gator, Service-Stephens & Union.
As of right now, here is my planned track hunt.
Buffalo Motor Speedway
Sugar Creek Motor Speedway
Columbia Speedway (Gaston)
Columbia Speedway (Cayce)
Found this in an email a friend sent me a few years ago:
Charleston Rebel Speedway
3/8-mile operated from the early '60s until around 1980.
Hardeeville Motor Speedway
Highway 17 S., Hardeeville, SC
3/8-mile dirt track. Last race was in 1979. The bigger half-mile had a race in the 30s.
Have a good time.
