Dave Eriksen is dedicated to making the track a showplace and bringing marquee events to the region. All the details are important to him and it shows with all of the improvements that have been done.

The most crucial detail will get full attention at The Ultimate, a great track surface. He is willing to get on the track during the racing program to do some trackwork if necessary for a more racey track!

“The Ultimate” at Hesston on October 21-22 Offers Great Payoffs with No Car Entry Fees!

(Mars, PA) Over the past 2 seasons, track owner DR Eriksen has made massive upgrades and improvements to the Hesston Speedway with the goal of becoming a showplace of motorports on the East Coast. The 4/10 mile supertrack is now ready to host its greatest event ever in its 50-year history. “The Ultimate” & “Challenger Super Championships” come to Hesston on October 21-22 with a total payoff of over $66,000, presented by G & R Excavating and Demolition and Frankland Racing Supply. This whopping payoff is being offered to drivers without the use of payoff-cutting car entry fees.

Hesston carries on the strong tradition of this mega-event which started at the Challenger Raceway in 1995 by Jack and Donna Lentz. Strong fields of drivers are expected in all divisions due to the strong payoff and car rules for the event that make almost every racer in the region legal and competitive. Super Late Model feature laps represent the years that Hesston (1961) and Challenger (1991) opened.

The UFo Super Late Models will headline the weekend with their 2011 season finale. These powerful monsters will race for a total of $10,000 to win, with a full racing program each night. “Mega-Blitz Mach1” on Friday, October 21 will pay $2,000 to win and $250 to start with “The Ultimate” on Saturday, October 22 paying $8,000 to win and $500 to start. Start money was increased with the sponsorship of G & R Excavating and Demolition of Tyrone, PA. 74 Super Late Model driver attending both days will receive a minimum of $325 total in prizes, including $250 cash tow money and a $75 Frankland Racing Supply gift card to the top 50 non-qualifiers.

Devin Friese of Chambersburg, PA currently leads the UFo Race Championship point standings and has 2 wins on the tour in 2011. Jared Miley of South Park, PA follows in 2nd. Keith Barbara, also of South Park, is coming off of a huge win in September at the UFo/ULMS “Pittsburgher” at Pittsburgh’s PA Motor Speedway and sits in 3rd. 2010 UFo Race Champion Chad McClellan of Stoystown, PA is in 4th with rookie Quintin Wyandt of Hooversville, PA in 5th.

Danny Mitchell of Clarksburg, WV and Matt Dobnak of West Mifflin, PA currently hold 6th and 7th in the standings. 8th place Jared Hawkins of Fairmont, WV has 4 UFo wins in 2011 and won over $27,000 of prize money on the UFo tour. Brother Jacob Hawkins, also of Fairmont, holds 9th with Jason Covert of York Haven, PA in 10th after a win at Roaring Knob on October 7.

Previous Super Late Model winners since the race was coverted to “The Ultimate” with format changes include Jason Covert of Lock Haven, PA in 2011 at Roaring Knob, Bart Hartman of Zanesville, OH in 2010 at PPMS, Jimmy Mars of Menomonie, WI in 2008 at Challenger and Billy Drake of Bloomington, IN in 2008 at Challenger. “The Ultimate” is know of outstanding racing action with the winner’s average starting position being 14th. Covert won from 9th on the grid, Hartman from 20th, Mars from 12th and Drake from 15th.

4 other divisions will compete in the “Challenger Super Championships.” The UFo Semi-Lates (limited/crate/steel block late models) will make their debut. Based on a 2-day show, Semi-Lates will race for $2,000 to win and $200 to start, with $100 tow. The top 25 Semi-Lates from the consolations will also receive a $75 Frankland card, making their total prizes $175.

B-Cadets (street/pro-stocks), Hobby-Modifieds (pure stock/charger) and Roadrunners (stock fwd 4-cylinders) will also race for excellent money. B-Cadets will pay $1,200 to win, $140 to start and $75 tow money based on a 2-day show. The Hobby-Modified championship will pay $700 to win, $40 to start with $38 tow money and the Roadrunners will race for $400 to win, $35 to start with $32 tow money.

The weekend will kick off on Friday, night October 21 with “Mega-Blitz Mach1.” The Super Late Models will compete in a full racing program with a 30-lap feature paying $2,000 to win. While the event will use UFo car rules and procedures, it will not award UFo points. 1 UFo provisional will start the feature. The highest Super Late Model finisher from “Mega-Blitz Mach 1” that does qualify for “The Ultimate” on Saturday will be the track provisional for that race. The UFo Semi-Lates and the B-Cadets will compete in their extended-lap qualifying heat races. The Roadrunners will race in their full racing program with a 22-lap “Super Championship” paying $400 to win.

On Saturday night, October 22, “The Ultimate” comes to Hesston. The UFo Super Late Models will compete in their final point race of the year, with a full racing program. The 61-lap UFo Super Late Model feature will pay $8,000 to win. UFo Semi-Lates and B-Cadets will race in their consolation and features on Saturday. The 44-lap Semi-Late “Super Championship” will pay $2,000 to win with the 33-lap B-Cadet “Super Championship” paying $1,200 to win. The Hobby-Modifieds full racing program will take place on Saturday finishing with a 22-lap, $700 to win “Super Championship.”

Saturday’s order of events will include a unique 2-session program that was used at “The Ultimate” when it was at Challenger. This 2-session program enables fans to choose what amount of racing they want to see. Hobby-Modified heats and consolations and Semi-Late and B-Cadet consolations will take place at 3:00 PM. The Super Late Models will take to the track approximately 6:00 PM at sundown and after full track prep. Hard core Super Late Model fans may take their seats when the Super Late Model session begins, and fans of all divisions may come early for a huge day of racing. Those that wish to only see the 2nd session will be able to save their seats anytime after the gates open or take advantage of top row reserved seating for the event. All front straight seating has been extended to 9 or 10 rows high for “The Ultimate.”

In case of a rain out on Friday, October 21, a 1-day alternative racing program will be run. This alternative program will pay UFo Super Late Models $8,000 to win, UFo Semi-Lates $1,400, B-Cadets $850 and Hobby-Modifieds $700.
