Bert leaking oil from vent

Bert non-ball spline transmission is leaking oil from vent tube at top of housing. What could be causing this?

Every one I owned did this, pull vent tube,tap with 1/8 pipe tap and put in a hose barb fitting with a two foot piece of hose zipped tied up high on cage with a inline fuel filter on end: no more leak

It's probably over full. You should be able to remove the side plug and the level should be about 1/4 inch below the plug.
