    Default 2010 GRT with a 525 ct crate motor???

    I am putting together a mod to run at a couple of 3/8 mile USRA tracks. I have been wanting to try the crate motor because most of the times these tracks stay pretty slick. With the weight break and the 8" spoiler it seems like it would have an advantage. What do y'all think about this??? And how much set-up change would I need to make for a 2200# car? Softer springs? Should I run a pullbar or try the 5th coil? What would I do to free the car up for the 8" spoiler? run the j-bar a little higher in the car?

    i would just use the standard setup and adjust as needed.

    I would say give Brandon Davis from Medford, MN a call.... he did very well with his crate motor in one of Cory Dripps cars

    If you have a GRT didn't Tommy Meyer run the 525 in his GRT all last year, they may give you some advise since its the same brand.

    Motor is not Legal for 2012.

    From what I hear the CT 525 is not legal anywhere in 2012.

    Where is everyone getting this info from? I need to know for sure before I spend anymore money on a car that I can't afford a motor for to run competitive with without the crate deal.... Not into the idea of running last!

    I just talked to Todd Staley myself. He said that all the tall spoiler cars are down to a 7' spoiler from the 8" from last year. And the crate motors they took the 50# off the front of the car but brought the total weight up to 2300#. HEAVYDUTY will this thing still be competitive??? You'll still have the aluminum block motor and a small fuel cell to balance out the car but now your only 100# lighter than a spec motor and 130# horse power down from them. Sounds to me like the over priced spec motor will be the way to go now. The crate will be on a 7500 RPM chip and the spec a 8000 chip. What does everyone think I should do???

    the 1" shorter spoiler (7" if that's what they're doing) won't slow the spec motor cars down any substantial amount. The spec head motor will still be the thing to have. Bringing the 8000rpm chip rule over from USRA to USMTS would go a long way toward knocking down the cost of the spec head pieces...but, I would be pretty surprised to see that happen. The engine builders making the megabucks on the spec pieces would not react favorably.

    Rules are out for USMTS and USRA for 2012 on their web sites.
