    Default Connecting Rod Life

If you have good rods ( oliver, dyers, ect. ) how many laps can you run them? Can they be rebuilt? Or do you just replace after a certain number of laps?
    Thanks Chumba.

They can be rebuilt to an extent, but eventually the material has too many fatigue cycles. I don't know what that number is, however.

Some Cup teams use 1million cycles some more some less.
Calculation is an approximation of total rpms. 8500rpms X 1 hr = 510Kcycles so a 4hr race is a couple million cycles. That is why rods are cycled out every race. Busch rods have less cycle time and less power so they are preferred. I like spin-tron rods as they don't see combustion pressures.
