Paying College Atheletes

In a recent discussion with fellow coworkers I implied;

I am no longer in favor of paying college athletes cause;

The money will turn the focus of not only the college athlete but the high school athlete as well. As greed may run rampent(?) in the competition for college sports scholarships & PRESTIGE ( for example)a 20% change in focus may result in a 12 %diminished capacity for scholastic education & drop in the graduation rate & as I view it. An ever increasing number of establishments such as casinos & a decline in the graduation rate mutiplies the need for jobs in an establihment which undeniably increases the employment of other similarly spawned industries such as prostitution.
The idea is to get out of the GHETTO not multiply its inhabitants regardless of window dressing.

aren't they getting paid now? I mean he11 with the high price of a college education I'd say they get paid pretty good right now.most are getting a free right to me that equals being paid. my children had to pay extra to help cover all the free rides for atheletes and half of them drop out to go pro.I'D like to see those athelets have to pay for the education they got that might help lower the cost of a college education for everyone.
