Post Smoky Mountain Speedway and 411 Motor Speedway form partnership

Smoky Mountain Speedway and 411 Motor Speedway form partnership, release 2012 schedulesBy Michael Moats – MRM Media ServicesDecember 19, 2011 Maryville, Tennessee – Two Tennessee racetracks have formed a unique partnership for the 2012 race season with the goal of improving racing in East Tennessee. Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville and 411 Motor Speedway in Seymour have announced a partnership for 2012. The partnership was announced last week but details were announced today as both racetracks look to an improved future of dirt racing in East Tennessee. The Mitch McCarter-owned 411 Motor Speedway will continue to run a weekly racing program, but have also added several super late model special events. A number of the super late model programs will be a doubleheader with Smoky Mountain Speedway. 411 Motor Speedway will kick off the 2012 season on January 1 with the 2nd annual “Hangover”. Weekly racing beings on March 30 and concludes on October 27 with the Steelhead Championship. Smoky Mountain Speedway will be hosting twelve events in 2012. The first race will be a Southern All-Stars sanctioned event on April 14. The Southern All-Stars will return on June 16 and September 22. The Southern Regional Racing Series has three dates in 2012. And new to the Smoky Mountain Speedway schedule in 2012 will be Ray Cook’s Schaeffer Oil Southern Nationals on Tuesday, July 17 and a pair of Ultimate Racing Series events May 26 and July 7. Both tracks are also working together with the crate late model class in 2012. The crates will run under NeSmith sanctioning and will compete at both tracks for the NeSmith points fund. And both tracks will host NeSmith national touring races throughout the season. Other classes will also be shared by the two tracks throughout the season. Having two tracks take on a cooperative effort such as this is something many area fans and drivers have asked for going back a number of years. “This is a good deal for both tracks,” said Roger Sellers, one of the co-owners of Smoky Mountain Speedway. “Mitch has been really easy to work with. we have developed a good relationship between both tracks. We think we have put together a program that will greatly benefit both racetracks and the fans and drivers. We’re really looking forward to an exciting season.” The schedules and additional information can be found on each track’s web site. The web home of 411 Motor Speedway can be found at www.411motorspeedway.net and Smoky Mountain Speedway’s web home is www.SmokyMountainSpeedway.com.
