    Default Hoosier spec d 55's vs wrs 55's

    From experience what tire is better on a track that tends to get slick, and heats are 8 laps and a main os 15 laps ( lap info just in case one is better on low lap races). Im wondering what tire would provide the most grip, I run on a 3/8 high banked clay (portsmouth raceway park) and im limited to these tire choices. Thanks!

    Are you allowed to cut and sipe?

    In new to all of this and dont kno what those terms mean, but i can groove them if thats what you mean

    Siping is putting little "slits" in the tires. The purpose of siping is to let the tire build heat quicker, or let it cool down should it get too hot. Usually sipe the rear tires from side to side, and the front tires along with the circumference of the tire.

    Yea, i can do that the rule states must say spec 55 or wrs 55 to be legal, and it says a tire sniffer will be used to detect alterations. So i was just wondering should i go with the spec 55 or wrs or mitchmatch them?

    portsmouth is not very high banked. and the track surface is not really clay, its river silt with alot of sand in it. the surface is fairly abrasive an builds heat fairly quick. im not familar with them tires so i really dont know what to tell you with them. but maybe someone can help you with my new info.

    I would run the WRS2 and sipe them to get them warmer faster!

    Ditto, siping them works. There are tools for it that make it easy.
