There are a few racers that get popped every year running a tire that left Hoosier as a different compound than what is was showing at the track. The tire treatments are a mix of about everything that you can think of and some of them are not illegal. We used to wash the tires between every time the car left the track and it went back. We used Simple Green and water and were constantly accused of treating the tires. The Simple Green opened them up and made the feel softer than new. Trac Tac makes some treatments that worked out pretty well when they were allowed.

If you are looking for a way to gain an advantage by treating tires or even the playing field go to the link below.
The "homemade" chemicals can work but you'll spend alot of $$ and waste tires finding what works.
Treating and working tires can actually save you money in the long run when done correctly. Nick G., Randy & the guys at Tracktac can head you in the right direction.
