Thread: Fuel Cell Foam

    Default Fuel Cell Foam

What do people do to keep the fuel from slooshing around or is this something not to be to worried about? Use drain pipe or foam?

most use foam.. heard guys using plastic wiffle balls if your not on gas.. BUT.. make sure you get the right foam for the fuel your using ..A new RCI cell came with our new car last season and it had the wrong foam in it for gas.. Well it was mixed with gas foam and alcohol.. It clogged everything up and even broke a pump mount fuel pump..

We have used wiffle balls for the last 20 some years, gas or methanol.

The foam is the correct thing to use. Sloshing around isnt why.

Its used for safety if a cell is ruptured, a empty cell or one with pvc, wiffle balls etc will spew fuel every where if its ruptured.

One with foam will contain a lot of the fuel. Possibly saving your life and allowing you time to escape.

Take a cup of water pour it on the cement and look at the splash and spray pattern.

Take a cup of water and use a sponge to soak it up and drop it from the same height you poured from. Notice the water will be contained in a much smaller area....

If common sense were common everyone would have it.

If foam was to prevent sloshing why wouldnt we just have baffles in the cell?
