FAYETTEVILLE, NC – Fresh off a fantastic opening round of the NDRA Road Show presented by Heintz Performance, that saw 32 cars chase Jeff Smith to the checkered flag at Carolina Speedway, the NDRA is set for round two this weekend at the famed Lancaster Speedway as part of the inaugural Carolina Crown.
Just like Carolina this event will pay the winning driver $3,000. Lancaster Speedway is one of the most historic race tracks in the South and has played host to several NDRA events in the past. In 2011 hometown favorite Timbo Mangum thrilled the huge crowed with a Road Show victory in late July. Ron Parker, who cut his Late Model teeth at the big ˝ mile scored the $3,000 Dirt Wars presented by Goodyear victory in September and will certainly be one of the favorites on hand this weekend.
The Carolina Crown is a $20,000 to win Super Late Model event. The race is the brain child of Cody Sommer and many of the nation’s top Super Late Model drivers are expected to be on hand, for what is the largest paying race in the history of South Carolina.
“We are very proud to be a part of the inaugural Carolina Crown,” said NDRA’s Larry Lee. “They have put together a heck of a program and we know we are going to give them a great show.”
The NDRA portion will see all drivers qualify on Friday night March 16th. The top ten from time trials will be locked into Saturday’s feature event. The top four will have a re-draw during opening ceremonies on Saturday. Drivers qualifying 11th on back will run heats on Friday night with a last chance event to be ran Saturday.
