mine currently has the roller bearing and will continue to use the roller bearing - what do you have in the eye of the leaf itself - the nylon inserts ????

I use the aluminum spring eye bushing. Its either a 1/2" or 9/16" bolt hole through the center. Use a lock nut on the bolt so not to tighten down on the bearings.
