WCUB 980 AM TO HOST LOCAL RACING SHOW IN 2012
(Joe Verdegan’s “Track Talk will also be streamed live on the ‘net)

(Green Bay, WI) February 3 – WCUB 980 am out of Manitowoc, Wisconsin has teamed up with Joe Verdegan of Elite Sports Marketing of Green Bay to host “Track Talk”, a one hour live program covering the racing season in northeastern Wisconsin.

The show will be broadcast live on Monday nights from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Victory Lane Pub located at 141 Speedway in Francis Creek. The show will debut April 16. “This is something I’ve wanted to do for some time now,” said Verdegan, who is a former radio news and sports reporter. “Up until now the logistics never worked out. With WCUB being northeast Wisconsin’s “Racin’ Station” and their coverage of the MRN (Motor Racing Network) I felt that station would be a great fit for a show of this caliber.”

Verdegan has worked as a track announcer and public relations director at many Wisconsin tracks for the past three decades, with his most recent stints at 141 Speedway and Luxemburg Speedway. Verdegan also pens a weekly racing column in the Green Bay Press Gazette and with the assistance of Bruce and Renee Conard has launched the “Custom Windows Plus Badger Mod Tour presented by Floors By Design & Directional Drilling Services.” The series will host modified races this year at eastern Wisconsin ovals.

Track Talk will also be streamed live on the station’s website cubradio.com. It will feature live guests on a weekly basis, and preview upcoming races at area tracks as well as hit results from the past racing weekend. “The main focus of this deal will be local racing,” said Verdegan. “We will cover all area tracks and series, on both dirt and asphalt. Local short track racing has a cast of colorful characters and we’ll bring them on the show to entertain and inform the race fans.”

WCUB will broadcast NASCAR Nextel Cup and Nationwide series races, as well as Grand Am races, starting with coverage of speedweeks action at Daytona International Speedway. “Our signal reaches north of Green Bay and we go west into the Fox Cities, so this is a great fit for us,” said station General Manager Lee Davis. “We’re excited to get this show rolling.”
