Ponderosa Speedway’s Final Practice Goes This Friday Evening March 30

Junction City, KY- March 25, 2012- Ponderosa Speedway track promoter Larry Yantz and co-promoters Chad and Sarah Yantz are yet another step closer to beginning the 2012 racing season at the 3/8 mile D-shaped red clay oval as the promotional trio is set to present the final practice session of the pre-season on Friday evening March 30 prior to racing getting underway officially on Friday April 6.

“We would like to thank all the fans, drivers, and crew members who came out to support us with our opening practice”, stated track co-promoter Chad Yantz. “We had a great turnout. Thanks to everyone for their compliments on the racing surface and improvements. It has been a lot of hard work and we still have a lot to do. Hope everyone can come back out this Friday Night as we practice under the lights in preparation to kick our weekly racing program on April 6”, added Yantz.

With one practice day already in the history books, the final test and tune practice session will take place this Friday evening March 30. Drivers will be able to make laps beginning at 6:00 p.m. that evening and the practice will conclude around 10:00 p.m. Drivers in all four divisions (Late Models, Modifieds, Sportsman, and Street Stocks) are invited in preparation of the upcoming 2012 racing season at Ponderosa Speedway.

Activities for the March 30 test and tune practice session will see the pit area and general admission area open at 4:00 p.m. with practice laps set to begin around 6:00 p.m. All spectators are invited to the practice day, as there will be free admission in the general admission area. There will be a charge of $15 for adults to enter the pit area, children ages 4 to 12 will be $10, and children ages 3 and under are free.

Ponderosa Speedway will feature four divisions of weekly racing competition during the 2012 racing campaign, with those being Late Models, Modifieds, Sportsman, and Street Stocks. Regular show events will see the Late Models race for $1,200 to win and $100 to start, Modifieds for $600 to win and $75 to start, Sportsman for $300 to win and $50 to start, and Street Stocks $200 to win and $40 to start. Ponderosa Speedway track champions for the 2011 racing season were Victor Lee of Danville, KY in Late Models, Stacey Decker of Eubank, KY in Modifieds, and Rusty Hulett of Lancaster, KY in Sportsman.

The official green flag will drop on the 2012 race season at Ponderosa Speedway on Friday April 6 with a full program of racing action that will feature Late Models, Modifieds, Sportsman, and Street Stocks all in competition. RACEceivers are mandatory in all divisions and must be in use at all times.
