(Peoria, IL) The 5th Annual “Don Bohlander Tribute” race at Peoria Speedway on April 14 will now offer Late Model drivers a possible $4,500 to-win after a fan came forward and donated $1,200 to the “Quick 6 Dash for Cash”. The “Richard Robison Quick 6 Dash for Cash” will pay the winner of the 6 lap race $500 in honor of the long-time Peoria Speedway fan and Vietnam Veteran who was recently diagnosed with Stage 4 inoperable cancer.
“My brother, son and I love coming to the Bohlander race, we always have a great time”, said Richard’s brother Wayne Robison. “I wanted to do something special for him so we wanted to have a race named in his honor and I came up with this idea.”
Richard Robison is a long-time Peoria Speedway fan who will be undergoing chemotherapy in his fight against cancer. The Robison family will present the check to the winner of the “Quick 6 Dash” on Saturday night. Payoff for the Dash will be: $500/ 250/ 150/ 100/ 100/ 100. The Dash winner will draw a pill for a possible invert for the first 6 starting positions for the “Bohlander Tribute” race. The race will kick off the 10 race “Budweiser Super Late Model Series”, paying $5,000 to the winner
The race will be run under Corn Belt Clash Series rules and regulations, with Hoosier D55, D20 and D40 tires all legal for this event. 2011 CBC Champion Chad Simpson, 2011 UMP Summernationals Champion Shannon Babb, 2011 UMP National Champion Ryan Unzicker and defending Peoria Speedway Track Champion Steve Lance, Jr. will headline a stellar field of cars for the $4,000 to-win CBC and UMP co-sanctioned event.
Jason Feger, Chris Simpson, Brian Shirley, Kevin Weaver, Jason Rauen, Scott Schmitt, Dave Eckrich, Denny Eckrich, Donny Walden, Tim Isenberg, Todd Bennett, Wes Steidinger, Billy Drake, Mark Burgtorf, Mike Spatola, Bobby Pierce, Brandon Sheppard, Mike Mullvain, Derek Chandler, Scott Bull, Jason Utter, Bob Gardner, Charley Hess, John Gardner, Jr. and Russ Adams are among the drivers expected to race at the “Bohlander Tribute” on Saturday night. The 50 lap feature will pay $4,000 to-win.
The “Bohlander Tribute” will benefit the “Don Bohlander FUND Racers for Parkinson’s Research” charity. 100 % of the money raised will be donated to Bradley University and Dr. Craig Cady, who heads the Parkinson’s Research program.
UMP Modifieds, Limited Late Models, and Illinois Lightning Mini-Sprints will join the UMP Late Models for the “Bohlander Tribute”. Admission is $20 for adults, $16 for Senior Citizens, $5 for kids 8-16 years old and kids under 8 $1. Pit passes are $25. Pit gates open at 3 PM, with grandstands opening at 4.
