Dustin Neat Nabs Spring 30 Race Win at Ponderosa Speedway

Junction City, KY-April 13, 2012- The event would be the 10th Annual Spring 30 and the venue would be “Kentucky’s Baddest Bullring” Ponderosa Speedway and Dustin Neat of Dunnville, KY would win the 10th Annual Spring 30 for the Good Neighbor Pharmacy Late Models, picking up a $1,500 payday. Other feature event winners included Benji Lee of Loretto, KY in Clayton Homes Modifieds and Donnie Sullivan of Stanford, KY in Ken Towery’s Auto and Tire Care Sportsman.

Greg Johnson and Dustin Neat would bring the Spring 30 A-Main to the green flag, with Johnson jumping out to the top spot, while Neat and Michael Chilton would battle for second. A quartet of caution flags would slow the action in the first six laps of the race, with the worst incident being a ten-car pileup on the backchute on 7 that drew the red flag. The final caution would wave on lap 10 for Kathy Jarvis stopping in turn one. Once action resumed, Johnson and Neat would settle into a great battle for the lead, with Neat finally pulling alongside Johnson on lap 18, with the duo racing side-by-side for the next four circuits before Neat would take the lead for good with a pass at the bottom of turn two on lap 22. Neat would pull away from the field and drive away for his second consecutive win at Ponderosa Speedway aboard his Red Buck/Neat’s Service Center/ Keltner Contracting/Southern Rayz Tanning sponsored #25 Longhorn Chassis, Vic Hill Race Engines powered mount. A three-way battle would ensue for second in the final two laps, with Dustin Linville nipping Johnson for second at the line, while Chilton would take fourth, with Justin Rattliff completing the top five. The remainder of the top ten would be Jeremy Hines, Jeff Watson, Joey Daniel, Greg Kendall, and P.J. Feistritzer. Feistritzer would get the $100 bonus for being the highest finishing Crate engined car, while Zane Powell would get a $50 bonus as the second-highest finishing Crate-powered entry. Brad Neat would be the top qualifier among 28 entries at 14.000 seconds. Country 100.9 MIKE FM heat race wins would go to Johnson, Dustin Neat, and Chilton, while Buzz Williams would win the B-Main.

The Clayton Homes Modified main event would see Don Adams and Benji Lee duel for the race lead over the final eight circuits of the 20 lap feature event, with the pair racing door-to-door for the lead, with Lee able to scoot under Adams for the lead as the pair came to the white flag. Lee would take the win in his Thompson Heat and Air/Thomas and Son Trucking/Smart Shoppers/On Time Courier/On Time Construction/Kirker Automotive sponsored #03 sponsored Bandit Race Car, Dale Meers Race Engines powered mount. Adams would finish second, with J.T. Ayers, Jacoby Hines, and Elliott Despain completing the top five. The remainder of the top ten would be Bryan Barber, Rocky Wilson, Shon Flanary, Chad Scott, and Cy Cundiff. Thirteen entries would see Bryan Barber be the top qualifier at 15.253 seconds, with Smith Automotive Machine Shop heat race wins going to Adams and Despain.

Donnie Sullivan would dominate the 15 lap Ken Towery’s Auto and Tire Care Sportsman division main event, leading all 15 laps of the race and grabbing his first win at Ponderosa Speedway aboard his D&D Pallet Recyclers/Simple Sign and Decal/Crown Cuts of Stanford sponsored #1 Chevy Camaro. Doodle Farris would take runner-up honors, with Shannon Scott, Derek Bottoms, and Johnny King completing the top five. Seven entries would see Sullivan also be the top qualifier at 16.524 seconds and also win the heat.
