    Super Late Model Coca-Cola 40 Explodes for $3,000 to win at Lake Cumberland Speedway April 21

    Burnside, KY-April 15, 2012- Lake Cumberland Speedway track promoter Brandon Hardgrove and his staff at “Kentucky’s House of Hardcore Mayhem” are set to present their first special event of the 2012 racing season with the Coca-Cola 40 on Saturday evening April 21, paying $3,000 to win and $300 to start for Super Late Models, along with a $1,000 to win/$100 to start special for the Modified division.

    The Saturday April 21 event will see the Super Late Models racing for $3,000 to win in a 40 lap feature event that will feature a full program of time trials, qualifying heats, B-Mains, and the Coca-Cola 40 A-Main $3,000 to win/$300 to start event. The Modified division will be in action racing for $1,000 to win in a 25 lap feature race, that will also feature a full program of time trials, qualifying heats, B-Mains, and the $1,000 to win/$100 to start A-main event. Also in action on the April 21 racing program will be Super Dirt Stocks racing for $300 to win (8 car minimum), Sportsman racing $250 to win (8 car minimum), and Front Wheel Drives racing for $100 (8 car minimum). The Super Late Model and Modified divisions will time trial, while the Super Dirt Stock, Sportsman and Front Wheel Drives will pill draw for heat race starting positions. All divisions will also have qualifying heats to set their respective divisions feature event line-up. There will be a $30 entry fee for Super Late Models for this event.

    Super Late Model Coca-Cola 40 A-Main Payout (40 laps/$3,000 to win/$300 to start): 1st- $3,000, 2nd- $1,500, 3rd- $900, 4th- $800, 5th- $700, 6th- $600, 7th- $550, 8th- $500, 9th- $450, 10th- $400, 11th- $350, 12th- $325, 13th- $315, 14th through 18th- $300 to start

    Activities for the Saturday April 21 event will see the pit area and general admission area open at 4:00 p.m., with a mandatory drivers meeting at 6:30 p.m. Practice is set to begin at 7:00 p.m., followed immediately by time trials and green flag racing. For the April 21 event, general admission ticket prices will be $20 for adults, children ages 6 to 10 will be $8, while children ages 5 and under will be admitted free with a paid adult. A pit pass will cost $35.

    Some of the past winners of the Coca-Cola 40 event at Lake Cumberland Speedway have included Jesse Lay (Walton, KY), John Gill (Mitchell, IN), Johnny Wheeler (Campbellsville, KY), and Greg Johnson (Bedford, IN). Rohn Moon of Greenwood, IN is the 2011 Coca-Cola 40 winner and defending race champion.

    Lake Cumberland Speedway last raced on April 21 and feature event winners included Tim Taylor of Science Hill, KY in Super Late Models, Scotty Kincaid of Rising Sun, IN in Modifieds, Keith Decker of Somerset, KY in Super Dirt Stocks, and Curry in Front Wheel Drives.

    Lake Cumberland Speedway is located at 1 Racetrack Road, just outside of Burnside, KY, just past the entrance to General Burnside Island State Park. Brandon Hardgrove is the track promoter and presents dirt track racing entertainment on Saturday evenings. The track is located on Racetrack Road off of US Hwy. 127 South, only about five miles south of Somerset, KY.
