Local Louisiana Racer In Pursuit Of His NASCAR Dream

Vivian, Louisiana's Doug Vick Jr. was given the opportunity of a lifetime with Lafferty Motorsports, a Concord NC based NASCAR team that competes in both the NASCAR Camping World Truck series as well as the ARCA series. Lafferty Motorsports works with talented up and coming drivers giving them a chance to achieve their racing dreams.

Lafferty Motorsports met with Vick in Hickory NC. Vick was to taking part in a test to determine his compatibility with the team. Day one of the test would consist of an on track assessment at the famous Hickory Motor Speedway which has been dubbed 'the birthplace of the NASCAR stars'. There, he would perform various tasks on the track from consistency on the stop watch to line consistency and how well he listened in the (not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)pit to instructions from team owner Chris Lafferty. At the completion of the test, Lafferty was impressed by Vick's overall car control and ability to listen and do exactly as instructed.

Day two would be just as exciting for Vick. A meeting was scheduled with Lafferty and his driver development manager where they would go over Vick's performance on day one. They were very impressed with what they had seen and offered Vick an opportunity to drive for Lafferty Motorsports and be one of an elite few that ever get this chance. The next step will be obtaining sponsorship to compete at the highest levels of motorsports. Lafferty and his marketing team will be working with Vick to make him a well rounded driver from performance on the track to representation of the team and sponsors off the track to make the total package.

Vick a local dirt tracker got his start in racing at the age of 13 after watching his Dad race at area tracks for years and dreamed of the day he would get to climb in the seat of a racecar. Eleven years of racing later, Vick finds himself with the opportunity that until now he had only been a dream -- the chance to compete in NASCAR . Chris Lafferty says, "Vick has raw talent and it wont take long for him to get familiar with asphalt racing." Vick says, "This is all I've ever wanted. Just give me one chance and I will make the most of it".

Vick looks forward to making his first start at Hickory in a street stock and will join the long list of super stars that have competed at the speedway when he does. Names like Dale Earnhardt, Ralph Earnhardt and Richard Petty to name a few. From there the skies the limit.

Vick and Lafferty Motorsports are in search of potential sponsors to make this Louisiana racer's dream come true.
