    May Mayhem Motors on May 18; “Junebug” Memorial Speeds on May 19 at Ponderosa Speedway

    Junction City, KY- May 13, 2012- Ponderosa Speedway track promoter Larry Yantz and co-promoters Chad and Sarah Yantz are set to present their second doubleheader weekend of racing action of the 2012 season with the 4th Annual May Mayhem race on Friday May 18 and the 13th Annual Hugh “Junebug” Rowland Memorial event on Saturday May 19. Clayton Homes Modifieds will race for $1,000 to win on Friday May 18, while the Good Neighbor Pharmacy Late Models will race for $1,500 to win on Saturday May 19 at the 3/8 mile D-shaped red clay oval known as “Kentucky’s Baddest Bullring” with both events featuring many of the best throttle-stompers in the area.

    The Friday May 18 racing program will feature the 4th Annual May Mayhem event, featuring the Clayton Homes Modifieds racing for $1,000 to win in a 30 lap feature event, along with Good Neighbor Pharmacy Late Models racing for $1,200 to win. Custom Suspensions will also sponsor time trials for the Clayton Homes Modified division and will award $100 to the top qualifier for this event. Also in competition on Friday May 18 will be Ken Towery’s Auto and Tire Care Sportsman racing for $300 to win, Bob Allen Motor Mall Street Stocks racing for $200 to win ($100 to win with four to seven entries), and Front Wheel Drives paying $200 to win ($100 to win with four to seven entries). The Late Model, Modified, and Sportsman divisions will time trial, while the Street Stock and Front Wheel Drive division will pill draw for heat race starting spots. All drivers will need to visit the registration/payout window to draw for time trial order and/or heat race starting spots. Also, all divisions will participate in qualifying heat race events that will determine the feature event starting line-ups. RACEceivers are mandatory in all divisions. The highest finishing driver in the Late Model division utilizing a Crate engine powered car will receive a $100 bonus, while the second highest finishing driver sporting a Crate engine powered mount will receive a $50 bonus.

    The Saturday May 19 racing program will feature the 13th Annual Hugh “Junebug” Rowland Memorial event, featuring the Good Neighbor Pharmacy Late Models racing 30 laps for $1,500 to win, along with the Ken Towery’s Auto and Tire Care Sportsman racing 20 laps for $500 to win. Colston Paving will sponsor time trials for the Good Neighbor Pharmacy Late Model division, with the top qualifier earning $100 for their efforts in time trials, while Clayton Homes of Stanford will put up $100 to the top qualifier in the Ken Towery’s Auto and Tire Care Sportsman division in there are 15 entries in the division. Also in action on the Saturday May 19 racing card will be the Clayton Homes Modifieds racing for $600 to win, along with Bob Allen Motor Mall Street Stocks racing for $200 to win ($100 to win with four to seven entries) and Front Wheel Drives paying $200 to win ($100 to win with four to seven entries). The Late Model, Modified, and Sportsman divisions will time trial, while the Street Stock and Front Wheel Drive division will pill draw for heat race starting spots.     Ponderosa Speedway last raced on Friday May 11 and feature event winners included Brad Neat of Dunnville, KY in Good Neighbor Pharmacy Late Models, Tommy Bailey of Corbin, KY in Clayton Homes Modifieds, and Gerald Haynes, Jr. of Somerset, KY in Ken Towery’s Auto and Tire Care Sportsman.

    Current track championship points leaders heading into the May 18, May 19 weekend doubleheader event include Dustin Neat of Dunnville, KY in Good Neighbor Pharmacy Late Models, Elliott Despain of Campbellsville, KY in Clayton Homes Modifieds, and Donnie Sullivan of Stanford, KY in Ken Towery’s Auto and Tire Care Sportsman.

    Ponderosa Speedway is located at 365 Phillips Lane on the Boyle/Lincoln County border, outside of Junction City, KY, just minutes from Danville, KY.     Also, there will now be post-race entertainment on Friday evening at the conclusion of the racing events. There will be a live band performing after the races are completed. The band Twist of Fate, well known throughout the Central Kentucky area, will provide the musical entertainment. All fans are invited to stay after the conclusion of the racing events on Friday evening and enjoy the post-race entertainment.
