Jared Hawkins Victorious at Cannonball; Prepares for WoO Triple Shot

Fairmont, West Virginia (05/22/12) – Just one week after winning his first event of the season Jared Hawkins stormed to a $3,000 victory on Sunday evening in his #37 Bobby Lake Motorsports/Rocket/Custom Race Engine Super Late Model at Cannonball Motor Speedway.

It was a busy and productive weekend for Bobby Lake Motorsports and Jared Hawkins as they entered a trio of events and came away with three strong finishes to show for their efforts. The action began on Friday night with a Weekly Racing Series Event at Elkins Motor Speedway (Elkins, West Virginia). Via preliminary action Jared earned the pole for the feature and would go on to finish in the second position at the checkered flag behind race winner, Paul Wilmoth Jr. Full results are available at www.ElkinsRaceway.net .

On Saturday night the action shifted to Tyler County Speedway (Middlebourne, West Virginia) for the 18th Annual Topless 50, which has previously been postponed twice by Mother Nature. With 27 Super Late Models registered for battle Hawkins started third in his heat race before finish second to Brandon Sheppard, which locked him into the sixth starting spot for the 50 lap, $4,000-to-win feature. Unfortunately lap two would see Jared involved in an incident, and as a result had to go to the tail of the field. Over the remainder of the event he bounced back to record a fourth place finish behind race winner, Jacob Hawkins, Mike Marlar, and Brandon Sheppard. The team concluded their tripleheader weekend on Sunday night at Cannonball Motor Speedway (St. Clairsville, Ohio) with the $3,000-to-win, Topless 35. The unsanctioned event saw Jared earn the outside-front-row starting spot for the 35 lap, Super Late Model feature. As the race went green He would quickly work his way to the lead and once out front would never look back on his way to his second feature win of the 2012 season, which was worth $3,000! "It was awesome to win at Cannonball. Our team is really starting to hit its stride, and I think we could make some noise in these upcoming specials over the Memorial Day weekend. Again I have to thank Bobby Lake and all of my great sponsors, who make this possible," commented Hawkins.

The upcoming Memorial Day weekend, May 25th-27th, will again see the team taking part in a triple header, but the ante will be increased as major paying events are on the line in a trio of World of Outlaws Super Late Model results. Action commences on Friday night with a $10,000-to-win program at NAPA Wayne County Speedway (Orrville, Ohio). On Saturday evening the brand-new, Bullring Bonanza will be held at Tyler County Speedway (Middlebourne, West Virginia) with a $25,000 winner's check on the line and over $50,000 in prizes going home with lucky fans. The weekend will conclude on Sunday evening at the recently renovated and reopened I-77 Speedway (Fair Plain, West Virginia) with a $10,000-to-win feature.
