Ultimate Super Late Model Series $5,000-to-win ‘Showdown at The Gap 50′ scheduled Saturday, June 9 at Volunteer Speedway

BULLS GAP, Tenn. — The Ultimate Super Late Model Series will make its second visit this season to Volunteer Speedway on Saturday, June 9 for the $5,000-to-win “Showdown at The Gap 50.”

Also racing besides the Ultimate Super Late Model Series will be the Fastrak Racing Series-sanctioned Pro Late Model (35 laps), Modified Hobby (25 laps) and Open Wheel Modified (20 laps) divisions.

Casey Roberts of Toccoa, Ga., currently stands atop the Ultimate Super Late Model Series point standings ahead of Zack Mitchell of Enoree, S.C.; Daniel Baggerly of Rural Retreat, Va., and Casey Barrow of Savannah, Ga.

Chauffeurs from around the East Tennessee region possibly expected to be in action include five-time Volunteer Speedway Super Late Model champion Vic “The Thrill” Hill of Morristown (winner of the two most recent Ultimate Super Late Model Series events in 2012), Billy Ogle Jr. of Knoxville, Mark Douglas of Knoxville, Chad Ogle of Sevierville, Jeff Maupin of Greeneville, Mark Vineyard of Powell, Bryan Hendrix of Knoxville, Brett Miller of Greeneville, Rick Rogers of Knoxville, Terry Wolfenbarger of Powell, Stacy Boles of Claxton, Josh Henry of Newport, and others.

Adult grandstand admission on Saturday, June 9 is $15, youth (ages 11-15) $5, with 10-and-under admitted free in the grandstands. Pit passes and backside tier-parking $30, regardless of age.

The pit gate will open Saturday, June 9 at 4 p.m. with the grandstand gate opening at 5 p.m. Drivers’ meeting is scheduled in the pits at 7 p.m. Hotlaps are tentatively scheduled to begin at 7:45 p.m., to be followed by qualifying and then racing action getting the green flag around 8:45 p.m.

No coolers or outside food allowed to be brought into the front straightaway (main) grandstand! Coolers are permitted in the pit area and the backstretch tier-parking – however no glass containers allowed.

Directions to Volunteer Speedway: South on Interstate 81 from Tennessee/Virginia state lines, take Exit 23 (Bulls Gap/Greeneville), then turn right onto Hwy. 11-E at bottom of the exit ramp. Look for track entrance approximately 200 yards on left.

North on Interstate 81 from I-81/I-40 split (East of Knoxville, TN), take Exit 23, then turn left onto Hwy. 11-E at bottom of the exit ramp. Continue underneath the interstate over-pass and track entrance approximately 300 yards ahead on left.

maybe not , several cars that dont make the race or have poor qualifing times , can start heading home and stop in volunteer to pick up some cash. I hope to see 32 supers. This isnt the 1st race Volunteer has held a race the same night as Eldora.
