    Default Leaf Spring Questions

    how tight do you guys fasten your u bolts on the housing/springs ? i have never fooled with leafs before and have shims and lowering blocks that i dont want to come loose , but dont want to overtighten it because i read that effects spring rates ? just looking for some input

    Red face torque 1/2 u bolts 45 ibs

    landrum leaf springs technical section states 45 ft lbs torque for a 1/2 inch u bolt and 20 ft lbs torque for leaf eyelet bolts and i also double nut them so they dont come loose,i hope this was useful for you.

    thanks , it sure does help. i think thats part of my problem , i got em way too tight

    one more quick question on multi hole shackle plates ,

    are adjustments ( up or down) in this area mainly for changing the rear roll center?

    I use them for wedge and ride height.
    Old enuf to know better, still too young to givadamm.
