    Lake Cumberland Speedway $3,000 to win Super Late Model Firecracker 40 Goes on July 7

    Burnside, KY-July 1, 2012- After being off last Saturday due to the extreme heat wave in the area, Lake Cumberland Speedway track promoter Brandon Hardgrove will return with racing action this Saturday evening July 7 as the Super Late Model division will compete in the Firecracker 40, racing for $3,000 to win at the 3/8 mile semi-banked clay oval, along with a full program of racing action for all other divisions.

    The Saturday July 7 Firecracker 40 racing event will feature the Super Late Model division racing for $3,000 to win in a 40 lap main event. The Modified division will also be in competition in a 20 lap, $600 to win feature race contest. Joining the Super Late Model and Modified division on Saturday July 7 will be the Super Dirt Stocks racing for $300 to win (8 car minimum), Sportsman racing for $250 to win (8 car minimum) and Front Wheel Drives racing for $100 (8 car minimum). The Super Late Model and Modified divisions will time trial, while the Super Dirt Stocks, Sportsman and Front Wheel Drives will pill draw for heat race starting positions. All divisions will also have qualifying heats to set their respective divisions feature event line-up. RACEceivers are mandatory for those racers in the Super Late Model and Modified divisions. There will be a $30 entry for the Super Late Model division for this event. As part of the racing program for Saturday July 7 there will be a fireworks display at some point during the evening’s event in celebration of America’s 236th birthday!

    Activities for the Saturday July 7 racing event will see the pit area and general admission area open at 4:00 p.m., with a mandatory drivers meeting at 7:00 p.m. Practice is set to begin at 7:15 p.m., followed immediately by time trials and green flag racing. For the Saturday July 7 Firecracker 40 event, general admission ticket prices will be $20 for adults, children ages 6 to 10 will be $5, while children ages 5 and under will be admitted free with a paid adult. A pit pass will cost $35.

    Lake Cumberland Speedway last competed on Saturday June 16 and feature event winners that evening included Mike Marlar of Winfield, TN in Super Late Models, Tommy Bailey of Corbin, KY in Modifieds, Keith Decker of Somerset, KY in Super Dirt Stock/Sportsman, and Jeremy Strunk of Bronston, KY in Front Wheel Drives.

    Current track championship points leaders heading into the Saturday July 7 event include Johnny Wheeler of Campbellsville, KY in Super Late Models, Tommy Bailey of Corbin, KY in Modifieds, Keith Decker of Somerset, KY in Super Dirt Stocks/Sportsman, and Jayson Henderson of Somerset, KY in Front Wheel Drives.

    Lake Cumberland Speedway is located at 1 Racetrack Road, just outside of Burnside, KY, just past the entrance to General Burnside Island State Park. Brandon Hardgrove is the track promoter and presents dirt track racing entertainment on Saturday evenings. The track is located on Racetrack Road off of US Hwy. 127 South, only about five miles south of Somerset, KY.
