What type of car are we talking about? Setup? I used to use a 150# spring a lot with a lr clamped setup. A common lr stacked spring deal comes out to a 133# rate.
Lowest I have gone is 200 (currently using), I haven't gone softer. I was afraid of bowing the spring.

Most handling problems can be solved by adjusting the screw-ball. It can be difficult to fine tune at times. Explaining yourself loudly and striking it on top of the helmet with a dead blow hammer usually works well.
