Over the past few months one thing has become evident, the Farmer City Pride 50 this Friday will be the most anticipated race of the season for not only true Farmer City Raceway drivers and fans but also those who are sitting afar with hope and aspirations of this becoming an epic failure. Throughout this race season we at Farmer City Raceway have raced, facing much adversity and continue to overcome! Since the sanctioning dispute with WRG and UMP began, it posed an onslaught of issues that no one within Farmer City Raceway could have ever predicted. Week in and week out, everyone from the promoter Jeff Hammer, all the way down to the concession workers have shown up, stood tall and shown the racing community why Farmer City Raceway is the premier speedway, not only in Illinios but the entire midwest.

This Friday night has been marked as "David vs Golliath" as one driver put it. With UMP pulling the Hell Tour race and moving it to Quincy, IL the question for the past several months has been who will go where? It has been, by some peoples opinion, that Farmer City should have rolled over and just gave UMP their way and cancelled this night altogether. Others have concluded that it has been on their schedule before the beginning of the season, and since UMP pulled this race without jurisdiction that it should continue on. And with that, this showdown between Farmer City and UMP has come to a head. With Farmer Citys relentless fight to press on despite the loss of the UMP sanctioning and UMP continued "bullying" this race will make its mark not only with UMP and Farmer City but with the dirt racing world. Farmer City Raceway would like to state that there is no hard feelings with the Quincy Raceway. We feel that the distance between the two tracks will allow both events to be successful, and wish nothing but the best for them!
Earlier this week a roll call was being presented on a website and thus far it has proved that the FC Pride 50 will have some great talent. Per either the website, Facebook or various confirmations the drivers that have confirmed are Scott James, Kyle Logue, Eric Smith, Donny Walden, Kevin Weaver, Torrin Mettille, Jeremy Conway, Myles Moos and Todd Bennet. Drivers that have been racing weekly that could be expected are Scott Bull, Joe Harlan, Russ Adams, Derek Chandler, Daren Friedman, Dillan White, Chris D!ck, Chuck Mitchell, Troy Newberry, Paul Harrison, Charlie Hess, Brian Dunn, Brian Rickey and more. We believe that after Wed or Thurs Hell tour points will determine if a few drivers fall off the tour or at least start skipping around. At that point, we look for there to be decisions to be made and then who knows who will show up.
Fridays Farmer City Pride 50 has already had to overcome some early issues as the heat in the midwest has become an issue with most tracks. On the schedule there was $2000 to win 410 Non Wing Sprint Cars. With the issue of track prep and pushing the start time back to racing at 7:30PM, it was in the best intrest of track, drivers, and fans to reschedule the Sprint Car special to next Friday 7/13. In addition to the $5000 to win for the latemodels, there is an additional $5000 which will be given in places 1-10 for how people finish in this event. The people who will be eligible are anyone who has attended FC at least five times, anyone who has attended five Summer National events, or anyone with a combination of five SN events and FC appearances. This race will also pay $500 just to start! The Modifieds will be racing for $1000 to win, Street Stocks $500 to win and Hornets will be racing for $300 to win. Outside of the Illini 100, it makes this the largest purse of the year. If there is any questions on the payouts or point fund or in general please contact Edward at 309 219-5528.
The Farmer City Crazy Kids Club will also be present doing all of our exciting weekly activities. We will have games, sports, prizes, arts and crafts, candy, snacks, and once again due to the extreme heat we will provide FREE ice water for the kids to cool off. We will be out from 530PM-700PM behind the main grandstand. All activities in the Kids Club are free so bring a friend and then after the Kids Club take them up and enjoy a great night of racing!
