We're thinkin' seriously about coming over (3.5 hour drive one way) for the ISW race. Will the USAC Sprint feature be run first?
Just wonderin' 'cause I've heard the e-mods sometimes take 45 minutes to an hour to run their feature. We don't want to be terribly late getting home plus we're coming to watch the sprinters, not the e-mods.
-
I have been there 2 or 3 times and never seen the modifieds take near that long, they run a pretty tight ship, should be great racin all the way around.
-
We read a short while back that the e-mod feature took just shy of an hour to run at LPS. It was during one of the Thursday night shows, I think.
I generally have nothing in particular against support classes. But, if they must run them in conjunction with a big show such as Indiana Sprint Week, RUN THE HEADLINER FEATURE FIRST!! In this case it would be the sprints. Even if the e-mod feature runs without any yellows it still costs us close to an hour in time getting home.
For those that want to watch the support classes they have the option to stay or leave. If they run the support classes first we have no option but to set and wait for the headline division or leave before the feature we came to see is run.
Again, RUN THE HEADLINER FEATURE FIRST!!

Thanks for the info racer19. We were gonna' be there either way but it's great that it's a stand-alone sprint show.
When we were at Terre Haute for the Hulman Classic just before Memorial Day Weekend they ran the e-mods as a support class for the sprints. They ran the sprint A-main first, which is as it should be. We hung around for the e-mod feature since we were camped there at the fairgrounds on our way to Indy for the 500. We enjoyed the e-mod feature, too. We just like having the option. When they run the headliner feature last that option is removed.

Who runs THAT now? I been there in the past and wasn't so great, just wondering if the new people are any better? Thanks in advance.

I went to Kokomo last night. There schedule was sprint wheel pack, sprint hot laps, sprint qualifying, street stock hot laps, thunder car hot laps. Then 4 10 car 10 lap heats for sprints, 2 8 lap ss heats and 2 8 lap thunder car heats, then sprint b-main. They ran thunder car 15 lap feature first to give bmain guys lil more time to get ready. Then sprint car feature and street stock feature. A support class isn't bad as long as its scheduled right. With Terre haute being 1/2 mile shouldn't be much down time

SHELDON, Bob Sargent and the O'Connor family are co-promoting T.H.A.T. Sarge owns part of Macon Speedway (along with Tony Stewart, Ken Schrader & Kenny Wallace) in Macon, Illinois and promotes the State Fair racing at both the Springfield Mile on the Illinois State Fairgrounds in Springfield, IL and the the dirt mile at Du Quoin State Fairgrounds in Du Quoin, IL along with the Hoosier Hundred USAC Silver Crown race at the Indiana State Fairground Mile dirt in Indianapolis. Bob's track preparation and general track management is regarded as second to none.
The O'Conner family, who promotes the racing at Kokomo, IN are equally respected in their ability to prepare and manage a racing facility.
Your right about T.H.A.T. It was mismanaged for several years prior to Sarge & the O'Connors taking over the promotion duties but that is all in the past.
You will likely see a first class show if you come to T.H.A.T. Wednesday night. If those guys can't get it done nobody can.

Sounds like a good scheduling policy, racer. The B-main guys really do need time to prepare for the feature.
If anybody can get it right and make it good for competitors and spectators alike it would be the O'Connors and it sounds like they did just that for ISW.

All the features been pretty darn good so far, these last 3 should be even better, then its back to illinois. Should be indana sprint month! lol
