blue rocket setup
we have been struggeling some with are blue frontend rocket. if there is some bite in the track its great once it blows off and there is nothing to lean on its ok but not as good as are competitors.
cant seem to get it tight enough on entry and in the center off the gas. i think if i can get it better there the exit will fallow.
550 lr 375 rf
200 lr 225 rr
300 5th coil @ 36inch / 400 6th coil
120 wedge 9 1/4 j bar
54.5 left
55.5 rear
13 1/2 drop
integra ida shocks 3/8 low bank dusty slick track.
rr wheel base is shortend 1/2 inch so wheel base is straight up.
we start with 4 links at lru 3rd, lrb 3rd, rru 3, rrb3 hole. heat race time we usually drop both bottom rods 1 hole. i have dropped rrb rod to bottom hole a couple times but still never seems to help a bunch and i have never dropped lrb rod to the bottom hole yet. i have raised the lru rod to the 4th hole with the short bracket and it hurt traction from center off. im looking at softening the 6th coil, and maybe riasing j bar to 9 3/4 i took some reb out of the rf and put 250 psi in the dummy shock. car was decent but not good.

i would go 600 LF an 350 RF if it was me

i noticed that my 5th coil shock is about 2-2.5 inchs from bottoming out. shouldnt it have more travel i know you dont want to bottom it out but i think it should be using more of the travel in the shock. its a 300 @ 36inchs,

more rebound in 5th coil shock will tighen yo up getting in !!!

Sounds like you're running the setups right from the Rocket book. And quite frankly they don't work for the team I'm affiliated with either. Same problems as you describe.

Try rocking the left side up 1/2 to 3/4 in.

I agree. This will give your lateral weight transfer a bit of a head start which is never bad in the slick.

Does "rocking the left side up" mean adding more travel on the LR ? (another 1/2" in the chain limiter)

It means raising both LF and LR ride heights . Some other things to try , lower jbar on pinion , .... lower RR ride height 1/2" , ..... and if you can't get it tight enough still , add a 90-10 to top of rear ( I know most don't use these but it will tighten entry )

Put a 350/150 stack in the left rear. You will have to lengthen RS side bars back to standard length. This was a major difference on our Rocket.

Sounds like something isn't right . With car set up ready to race , I'd think you should have 4 or 5 " of rod showing.

First of all this is like a 2 and half year old post that somehow got rekindled. The OP has posted on here in almost 2 years so I doubt we're going to get much feedback.
But when he said 2-2.5 inches from bottoming out I think he meant AFTER travel; as in the travel indicator is 2-2.5" from bottoming after a run.

Why exactly does more rebound on 5th coil tighten you up on entry ? It works great but I can't understand it haha

There are differing opinions on this but in theory it slows down the work of the 6th coil basically softening the blow. This helps keep the the rear tires planted under braking as opposed to wanting to pull up away from the track.
