The 3rd Annual Shrine 50 takes the Spotlight Saturday August 25th at Macon Speedway

(Macon,IL) Saturday night, August 25th, will be a special night at Macon Speedway. The Speedway will once again partner with The Decatur Shriner Club to presents one of the season’s fan favorite events, a 50 lap UMP Super Late Model race paying $1500 to win, dubbed “The Shrine 50”.
Shriners support Shriners Hospitals for Children, an international health care system of 22 hospitals dedicated to improving the lives of children by providing specialty pediatric care, innovative research and outstanding training programs. Children up to age 18 with special conditions may be eligible for care at Shriners Hospital for Children and receive all services at no financial obligation to families.
“We are very excited about this opportunity to bring this great race to the fans of Macon Speedway while helping such a worthy cause”, said track owner Bob Sargent. Late Model driver Joseph Hughes donated all of his winnings in last year’s event and plans to do the same on August 25th. Car owner Kevin Hughes stated, ”Joseph is really pumped up about this year’s race and the chance to donate his prize money to the Hospital for Children”.
The night’s racing action will also feature Billingsley Towing Modifieds, UMP Street Stocks, and the always entertaining Pro and Amateur Hornets. In addition, there will be many special activities planned during intermission.
Fans won’t want to miss all the action that has become commonplace at Macon Speedway, along with the chance to help this worthy cause. Tickets are only $10 if purchased in advance at one of several locations: Paul’s Confectionary, Pop’s Place, Nelly’s Tavern, The Hair Nest, Whit’s End Macon, Creekmur Car Care Center and 22nd Discount Liquor.
