Operation Christmas Child/Lake Cumberland Speedway Partner for October 12, 13 Ironman Classic/ Border Wars Event.

Burnside, KY-September 30, 2012- Lake Cumberland Speedway track promoter Brandon Hardgrove is pleased to announce a great partnership for the second night of the 8th Annual Ironman Classic/ Border Wars Weekend event on Friday October 12 and Saturday October 13 that will benefit many children when Christmas arrives in December by partnering with Operation Christmas Child.

Operation Christmas Child Samaritan's Purse is a non-denominational evangelical Christian organization providing spiritual and physical aid to hurting people around the world. Since 1970, Samaritan's Purse has helped meet needs of people who are victims of war, poverty, natural disasters, disease, and famine with the purpose of sharing God's love through His Son, Jesus Christ. Operation Christmas Child, the world's largest Christmas project, brings joy and hope to needy children around the world through gift-filled shoe boxes and the Good News of God's love. Since 1993, more than 94 million shoe box gifts have been delivered to children in more than 130 countries.
Please help to pack boxes by donating an item at Lake Cumberland Speedway the weekend of October 12th and 13th and receive a voucher to use at the concession stand. The goal of the organization is to reach 100 million children for Christ.

Acceptable items to donate include small cars, balls, dolls, stuffed animals, kazoos, harmonicas, yo-yos, jump ropes, pens/pencils, crayons/markers, ink pad sets, paper, solar calculators, coloring/picture books, toothbrushes, mild bar soap, combs, washcloths, hard candy, mints/gum, t-shirts, socks, ball caps, sunglasses, hair clips, toy jewelry, watches, a note to the child, and a photo from you.

Lake Cumberland Speedway presents its next racing events on Friday and Saturday October 12 and October 13 with the 8th Annual Ironman Classic/Border Wars Weekend. On Friday October 12, Super Late Models will race for $3,000 to win, Modifieds for $800 to win, Super Dirt Stocks/Sportsman $300 to win (8 or more entries), and Front Wheel Drives $150 to win (8 or more entries). On Saturday October 13, Super Late Models will race for $5,000 to win, Modifieds for $1,000 to win, Super Dirt Stocks/Sportsman $300 to win (8 or more entries), and Front Wheel Drives $150 to win (8 or more entries).

Lake Cumberland Speedway is located at 1 Racetrack Road, just outside of Burnside, KY, just past the entrance to General Burnside Island State Park. Brandon Hardgrove is the track promoter and presents dirt track racing entertainment on Saturday evenings. The track is located on Racetrack Road off of US Hwy. 127 South, only about five miles south of Somerset, KY.
