18th Annual Coors Light Fall this Weekend, October 11th-13th at Whynot

Meridian, Mississippi (10/09/12) The 18th Annual Coors Light Fall Classic at Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, Mississippi comes to life this Thursday-Saturday, October 11th-13th, 2012. On the heels of another successful Coors Light Fall Classic ever in 2011, the event is back for more in 2012. For the eighteenth straight year, many of the best competitors in the nation and the region will converge on the southeast Mississippi facility to contend for their respective championships. The 1/3 mile, clay oval is known for its consistently racy surface, which is prepared and maintained by racing veteran, Rodney Wing.

With an incredible forecast on the horizon that currently includes sunny skies to go with highs in the 80's and lows in the 60's one of the most eclectic Super Late Model fields that fans will find anywhere have voiced an intent to take part in the event this year including some of the hottest drivers in the country this season. 2012 World 100 and Silver Dollar Nationals Champion, Brian Birkhofer (Muscatine, IA), Knoxville Nationals & Topless 100 Champion, Steve Francis (Ashland, KY), 2012 UMP Fall Nationals Champion & 2010 UMP Summernationals Champion, Jason Feger (Bloomington, IL), 2012 North/South 100 Champion, Don O'Neal (Brownstown, IN), 2012 Dream 100 Champion, Shane Clanton (Fayetteville, GA), Six-Time World 100 Champion, Billy Moyer (Batesville, AR), 2012 World of Outlaws Rookie of the Year and Gumbo Nationals Champion, Bub McCool (Vicksburg, MS), 2012 East Bay Raceway Park Winternationals Champion & UMP DIRTCar Volusia Nationals Champion, Dennis Erb Jr. (Carpentersville, IL), and 2012 Masters Champion, Billy Moyer Jr. (Batesville, AR)

A host of former champions of the event will tentatively be on hand as well including Wendell Wallace (1997), Chris Wall (2006), Don O'Neal (2001), Brian Birkhofer (2010 & 2008), Mike Boland (1998) and Ronny Lee Hollingsworth (2009).

Joining theses red hot competitors and former event champions will be national, regional, and local hot shoes with tentative entries that include Mike Marlar (Tennessee), Ray Cook (North Carolina), Clint Smith (Georgia), Scott Dedwylder (Mississippi), Allen Murray (Texas), Kyle Beard (Arkansas), Morgan Bagley (Texas), Timothy Culp (Louisiana), Jack Sullivan (Arkansas), Dane Dacus (Tennessee), Gary Christian, Oklahoma), Rick & Brian Rickman (Mississippi), and Jason & Jimmy Cliburn (Mississippi) and a host of more competitors from across the nation. Currently drivers from at least thirteen states have filed entries with more expected to enter the event on race day.

The 2012 edition of the event will be headlined by a $15,000 to win/$1,000 to start, 100 lap Super Late Model event, which boasts a total Super Late Model purse in excess of $55,000.

Drivers please note that to ensure fair competition that the winner's check will be held for approximately one week pending tire test results from an independent laboratory.

Calls are already flooding in from drivers and fans for this year’s event, which could very well top last year's event to be the biggest in the history of the Coors Light Fall Classic.

M-D Metals Crate Late Models will also be co-headline the event as they wage war for $2,000 to win/$125 to start during the course of the event. The Open Wheel Modified division is being sponsored by Etheridge Race Products., and will boast a $2,000 to win/$125 to start payout. The Cooper's Country Meat Packers Street Stock division will be headlined by a $1,000 to win/$75 to start program. On Saturday night the Pure Stock division will contest a complete show for $250-to-win..

The entry fee for M-D Metals Crate Late Models and the Open Wheel Modifieds presented by Etheridge Race Parts is $50.

Open practice begins Thursday night, October 11th at 7:00 PM for all divisions.

Friday night is preliminaries night, as the 18th Annual Coors Light Fall Classic Super Late Models qualify and run heat races as they attempt to make the coveted, feature field. Crate Late Models will also qualify and run heat races. Open Wheel Modifieds and Street Stocks will run their heats.

B-Mains for all divisions will be contested on Saturday night along with the 17th Annual Coors Light Fall Classic Championships. The Pure Stock division will contest a complete program

Racers and fans please note that this Saturday, September 29th Whynot Motorsports Park will host the Prelude to the Fall Classic, which will be a huge event headlined by $1,000-To-Win Super Late Models, twin $500-to-win Crate Late Model features, $800-to-win Open Wheel Modifieds, $500-To-Win Street Stocks, and $250-To-Win Pure Stocks.
