    Rick Aukland Aces American Modified Series Season Finale at Florence Speedway

    Union, KY-October 13, 2012- The American Modified Series concluded its 2012 season and championship weekend at Florence Speedway in Union, KY and Rick Aukland of Zanesville, OH scored his first ever American Modified Series victory and picked up the $5,000 payday in the richest event ever contested in the three-year history of the AMS tour.

    Joey Kramer would take the lead at the drop of the green flag at the start of the 40 lap, $5,000 to win main event and would hold the top spot for the first eight circuits before Rick Aukland would wrestle the lead away from Kramer and hold off fellow Ohio native Bart Hartman to score the victory in the $5,000 to win event. Hartman would take second place honors, while hard charger Chris Stotts, Kramer, and Levi Kissinger would complete the top five.

    The remainder of the top ten finishers would be Trent Young, Brian Ruhlman, Devin Gilpin, Jeff Bab(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word), and Jeff Leka. The 40 lap, $5,000 to win event would be slowed by only one caution period and take fifteen minutes to complete.

    In preliminary action, Joey Kramer would be the Williams Precision Engine top qualifier among a series record 92 entries at 16.920 seconds. Joey Kramer would win Hypercoil Springs heat one, while Trent Young won Wiles Driveshafts heat two. Brian Ruhlman would take the win in VP Racing Fuels heat three, with Bryce Jewell winning Comp Cams heat four. Levi Kissinger would be the victor of Hypercoil Springs heat five, while Anthony Kincade scored the win in Wiles Driveshafts heat six. Jeff Leka picked up the win in VP Racing Fuels heat seven, with Rick Aukland winning Comp Cams heat eight. The four B-Main winners would be Doug Adkins, Chris Stotts, Jeff Bab(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word), and John Demoss.

    Anyone have video of florence modified race . 10-13-12. Could please post.
    What a good race . A full field of the best race cars and drivers anywhere.
    Also my hats off to florence speedway and staff for putting on a race
    of this magnitude . Good job.

    I agree great race 15 minutes to run 40 laps and went green to checker, not counting the mishap on the start. It was a joint effort with AMS and Florence Speedway and the whole staff did a great job including the UMP officals.
    Thank you to all the racers for joining AMS for Championship Night!

    Curious how the outside pole car caused the wreck on the first lap and pulled into the infield and still got his spot back?

    Just maybe they might say there was not a lap in . But there rules are if u stop or
    bring out the caution u go to the tail. A lot of teams were not happy or the fans.

    the rule states if more than 1 car is involed in the yellow on the the start of a race before one lap is in all cars return to there spots ,,,after 1 lap is compeleted only the cars that stop are sent to the tail ......the rules or on the website ......american modified series . com

    Congrats ! on the win Rick. Hats off to Joey for fast time and 4th in feature and winning the night before at Moler. That was the 3rd AMS race in a row won by Lightning Chassis .
