Ray Cook Claims Win Nine of 2012 at North Georgia; Prepares for Portsmouth!

(BRASSTOWN, NORTH CAROLINA) Ray Cook, of Brasstown, North Carolina, picked up his ninth feature win of the 2012 racing season on Saturday night, October 13 in Crate Late Model action at the North Georgia Speedway in Chatsworth, Georgia! After starting from the pole position in the A-Main, Ray led flag-to-flag to claim the $1,500 top prize. In Super Late Model competition during the 'Biddle Ridley Memorial' at North Georgia, Ray laid down the fourth quickest lap in qualifying and later placed third in the unsanctioned $4,000 to win main event behind only winner Billy Ogle, Jr. and runner-up Skip Arp.

The dirt-slinging action quickly shifted to the East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, Alabama on Sunday and Ray once again competed in two divisions during the completion of the rain-postponed 'Alabama State Championships.' In his D&R Motorsports #53 Super Late Model, Ray started and finished in the third spot in the $7,000 to win feature event behind only winner Randy Weaver and runner-up Chris Madden. Behind the wheel of his Crate Late Model, the driver known as the "Tarheel Tiger" blasted from his sixteenth starting spot to earn yet another third place performance in the $5,000 to win affair. Next up for Ray and his #53 team will be the 32nd running of the ‘Dirt Track World Championship’ scheduled for October 19-20 at the Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, Ohio. The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will preside over their season finale at PRP and the crown jewel event once again boasts a hefty $50,000 payday. Qualifying and heat race action will take place on Friday night, while the consolation events, $3,000 to win ‘Jim Dunn Memorial Non-Qualifiers Race,’ and the 100-lap ‘Dirt Track World Championship’ are all scheduled for Saturday evening.

The high-definition cameras of the Lucas Oil Productions Studios will be on hand at Portsmouth to tape all of the wheel-to-wheel action for broadcast on the SPEED Channel. Ray finished a strong fifth in last year’s version of the DTWC, which was held up the road from PRP at the Atomic Speedway in Alma, Ohio.
