Default EAMS National 100 - Tire Rule & Format Change

    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

East Alabama Motor Speedway National 100 Tire Rule & Format Change

Phenix City, AL (10-25-12) - Tire rule and format change announced for the 38th Annual National 100 at East Alabama Motor Speedway November 8 – 11. EAMS officials have listened to the concerns of the Super Late Model drivers about the tire cost involved for the drivers to compete over the weekend. The following changes have been made to help save the drivers money. The following will apply to the Super Late Models; tire rule will be Hoosier 1300 or harder and American Racer 44 or harder, all tires will be checked with durometer and tire sniffer. The Super Late Model consolation races will run Sunday evening before the National 100 after the track preparation has been completed.

The first National Dirt Track Championship race was held on the second Sunday in November 1975. Bud Lunsford held the lead all 150 laps to take home the $1500 to win. In 1980, the National Dirt Track Championship was rescheduled for 100 laps, instead of the previously scheduled 150 laps, therefore becoming known as the "NATIONAL 100". Held every year in November, the 2011 grand finale of the season saw Jonathan Davenport from Blairsville, GA take home $25,000 for his efforts. The National 100 is the oldest and most prestigious dirt track racing event in the deep south. The 38th Annual National 100 will be held November 8 – 11, 2012.

Tires were impounded before time trials.

They bolted them on just before going out .

One thing that only the locals understand. It's about the Thomas'. Four days of a hot dog and hamburger sale. The boys (Thomas) fall under different rules. Ever notice how they always draw the pole for their heat races. In the Super Street feature at the State race, after one lap was on the board, the Thomas boy came in to change a tire. They took the lap off of the board and put him back out front. Go figure.

Not to take anything away from the boys. They can drive. But when you got Uncle Billy or daddy giving preferential treatment, it ain't doing them any good.

The state and National race should be boycotted to let them suffer for a while. If the best drivers and fans don't show up, they may get the picture.
