    Default thoughts on sohc engines.

just looking on your thoughts on the best sohc engine you can use in a mini.

    rules are

    engine - any 4cyl sohc
must be carbed ( Holley 350)
    no port or polish
    stock size valves
any stock rods (must have factory stamped logo & mach make)
hyd/solid cam no lift rule (no rollers)
    flat top only
    no limit on head cut
    open headers.
oem intakes with 1" carb adapter.

what would you run with these rules

ford 2000 or 2300. cut the head to the bolt holes on the intake get a good solid cam kit for the track you plan to run on. Balance all the internals and put arp rod bolts on the rods.

What is the weight-to-cc Rule? Carb modifications permitted? Use a Schneider solid cam. They have (6) different lobe heights available for the valve lift of your choice. Balance the clutch, with the disc removed, once the crank is balanced. -84Dave-

oem intake with a carb pretty well leaves you with fords and old toyotas i think. can't think of a single ohc 16v that a came with a carb intake or one you could make work.

a shot of a carb on an efi intake. an 8 valve vw but you can see the possibility if you can find a nice 16v with a flat intake.
