Default Need ideas for wheel packer using late model tires

What does your local track use for track packing? I am looking to make a packer that could be pulled by my truck. Want to use old late model tires and wheels but not sure how to hook them up to a drive axle. Probably would have a row of 4 wheels on an axle but how would I attach them? Any ideas?

take a look at how the old trike style front ends on tractors are designed. take two steel axle tubes cut to length about 14'' over all weld them together back to back with a smaller tube inside for strength. mount a tire/wheel on each side do this as many times as you fill you need to be sure to stager the tires 50 percent with each row so they don't just run in the tracks of the front row of tires.

A couple of our tracks use old 4 wheel drive pick-ups with late model tires on them. And one of them has used an old ford Van for as many years as I can remember. But most of them use us, the DLM cars and drivers. They have done it that wasy for so many yrs, its been hard to break them of it.
