    Lake Cumberland Speedway’s 5th Annual Harold Hardgrove Memorial Goes on August 17

    Burnside, KY-August 11, 2013- Lake Cumberland Speedway track promoter Brandon Hardgrove is set to return to action this Saturday with the annual memorial event for his late father, Harold Hardgrove, on Saturday August 17 as Lake Cumberland Speedway presents the 5th Annual Harold Hardgrove Memorial, paying $3,000 to win for Super Late Models at the 3/8 mile semi-banked clay oval located just a few minutes south of Somerset, KY.

    The Saturday August 17 Harold Hardgrove Memorial racing program will include a full program of racing action, featuring Super Late Models in competition in a 40 lap feature event that will pay $3,000 to the winner, along with the Modifieds racing for $800 to win in a 20 lap feature contest. Also on the racing card on Saturday August 17 will be the Sportsman division (Ponderosa Speedway rules) paying $500 to win in a 20 lap feature and Four Cylinders will race for $150 to win in a 10 lap feature.

    Brad Neat of Dunnville, KY is the defending champion of the Harold Hardgrove Memorial event and won an exciting event that drew 30 entries over Terry English, Tim Tungate, Michael Chilton, and Dustin Neat. Other previous winners of this event include Greg Johnson of Bedford, IN (2009), Skylar Marlar of Winfield, TN (2010), and Michael Chilton of Salvisa, KY (2011)

    Activities for the Saturday August 17 Harold Hardgrove Memorial event will see the pit area and general admission areas open at 4:00 p.m. The drivers meeting will take place at 7:00 p.m., while practice laps will begin at 7:30 p.m. Time trials will take place beginning at 8:00 p.m., with racing taking the green flag at 8:30 p.m. All times are EDT. Ticket prices for the Saturday August 17 event in the general admission area will be $20 for adults, $5 for children ages 6 to 12, while children ages 5 and under are admitted free. A pit pass will be $35.

    Lake Cumberland Speedway last raced on Saturday July 27 and feature event winners included Tim Tungate of Campbellsville, KY in Super Late Models, Matthew Jordan of Lancaster, KY in Modifieds, and Doyle Hibbard in Sportsman/Road Hogs.

    Lake Cumberland Speedway is located at 1 Racetrack Road, just outside of Burnside, KY, just past the entrance to General Burnside Island State Park. Brandon Hardgrove is the track promoter and presents dirt track racing entertainment on Saturday evenings. The track is located on Racetrack Road off of US Hwy. 127 South, only about five miles south of Somerset, KY.
