Default SRRS Set to Debut New Race Format

    Southern Regional Racing Series:
    www.southernregionalracingseries.com

The fans have spoken, and the SRRS has listened. We are introducing a new race format that will start at the Cabin Fever on January 26th and will be used for all future SRRS events.

After looking at all suggestions, we came up with the following format:

Cars will be divided into groups.

Drivers will qualify and heat race in the same group for the entire event.

ALL cars will run heat races.

Heat race lineups will be determined by qualifying times within your group with the TOP 4 being inverted.

Finishing order in the heat races will determine feature line-up. NO INVERSION in feature!

there is no way to qualify all cars in one group especially on a day race, might as well give the pole to the last car out because thars usually how it goes. this rule will keep some cars away.

    Lamar,
Don't think that was the way it was intented to read. There will be more than one group. You just have to hotlap and gualify in your group.Basically that hasn't changed.Changes are no cars locked in from qualifing, everybody has to heat race.Stupid part is the inversion.

Cars qualify in their groups which is determined by what they draw and the number of cars at the event. Drivers are really only competing against those in their group until feature time.

This is the same format that Lucas Oil uses. Eldora's World 100 and Dream also do inversion. The feature will NOT be inverted. We are only inverting one row basically in the heat race(second row becomes first row and first row becomes second). We will not be locking in cars as we did in the past.

During our FIVE TOWN SHOWDOWN, drivers that locked into events had to draw for their starting positions in a heat and had to race. Where they finished in the heat is where they started. Most of the time the fastest qualifier did not start on the front row of the heat or the race.

Inverting the TOP 4 in each heat allows the fans to see more racing and also gives the fans more racing action. There is still a chance that the fastest qualifier from each heat will win their heat.

im all for the fans getting a great show, but i would invert the features and have a fan roll the dice, then what ever they roll invert that many, heat races just are not long enough to make up that much ground, that being said whats the use or qualifying 1st or at all, just pill draw and use passing points then and see the front runners run through the field of the heats and feature if thats what you want, jmo

    That much ground?
They're inverting 4 cars. That means the "fastest" car in a group would have to pass 3 whole cars in 8 - 10 laps. It doesn't seem all that impossible especially because the SRRS races, for the most part, at tracks that you can actually race on.

Sounds great. Battle of the Bluegrass inverted the top 4 in heats for many seasons and it was great action.

The only thing that was changed was an added explination that cars were still going to be divided into groups.

srrs girl, lucas oil eldora,s world 100 and the dream. are you serious ? this is not a 10.000, 50.000 or 100.000 to win event its a 3.000 to win . when will somebody step up and help the budget racer. this is the worst 3.000 to win race format there is. qualify lock in the top ten and consi the rest no gimmicks or trickery to try
    and make the show.

How does it not help the budget racer? If your on a budget then you probably won't be in the top ten in qualifying so you still have to run an extra race. Now, you can qualify 16th and still start on the pole of your heat which gives you a good shot to make the race and less chance of getting tore up,plus if the fans like me enjoy the format the more of us there are the more money there is for the purse in the long run.

If your car/driver can't pass 3 cars in a heat you can race SAS. They know have 3500 to win lock in 16 qualfying formats...
