I wish there was a news source we could get the truth but, it just simply does not exist. All they care about now is what's going to get them ratings.

The 7 shot revolver is as equal an "assault weapon" as the AR-15. They both fire one round every time the trigger is pulled. They are both semi-automatic weapons. You can do an equal amount of damage in a movie theater or a school with either weapon.
There is no such thing as an "assault weapon". It is a made-up term, which has mistakenly become synonymous with "machine gun".
Their have been significantly more murders committed with hammers and clubs than guns; and even way more than that have been committed by knives. Where is the outrage and proposed bans of hammers, clubs and knives? Have we banned ammonia yet? How about fertilizer? Car accidents kill 60,000 people in this country every year. Are you outraged? Have you turned in your car to the state or federal government yet? Should we just ban automobiles?
When something does not make sense on its own merits, it must be a part of an agenda. Obviously, "gun control" is part of some agenda that I do not understand, because it does not make sense based on its own merits.

No. You can't do more damage with a 6- or 7- round revolver that you can with a 30+ clip in an assault weapon.
Did you really just try to justify that? If you can't do more damage with an assault weapon, you must be a terrible shot.
-
If that was the case Darwin, let's just recall all those assault weapons from are soldiers and give them revolvers.
Since, as you clearly indicate, they do equivalent damage.

The way he explained it, he's right. A simple revolver is just as "assault" as any semi automatic. Once you (not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word) it, (on the semi) it works like the revolver and visa versa. Correct?

I just spit out my coffee... Did this person really just say a "revolver" is a "semi automatic weapon"???? Uh, hey there, sparky, maybe its time to look up some terms in that thing there called a Dictionary before you start regaling us with your intellectual prowess.
A revolver has a revolving cylinder that you place the bullets in and each time you squeeze the trigger it spins the cylinder placing another bullet in front of the hammer.
A semi-auto uses the recoil of the firing to eject the casing and chamber a new round.
A revolver usually has holes for 6 bullets in the cylinder, and you have to have a pretty strong hand and arm to rapid fire the thing.
A semi auto has a magazine that auto feeds bullets into the chamber and has a pretty light trigger that requires nothing more than a bullet firing to reload.
So basically, a revolver is not a semi-automatic hand gun, and you cannot fire anywhere near as accurately, rapidly, as you can with a semi-auto.
To address some of the other fine points made in this thread (Duane) the commonly held definition of "assault weapon" states a rifle with a pistol grip as just one of multiple attributes that IF a rifle has, then it is classified assault weapon. So it doesn't have to be able to fire at the same rate, or even have a certain calibre of bullet, to be deemed assault weapon.
In short, the Bushmaster meets the criteria because it has a pistol grip. So basically, you trying to say that because it was not full auto, or had other features of the pure combat weapon used by our forces meant that it was not actually an assault weapon does not hold true. It would be considered an assault weapon based on the pistol grip under the stock for a start, let alone all of the other features it had that meets the defitinion.
But we will see plenty of staunch refusals from the gun lobby to concede even the simplest of facts. It's just the nature of the gun lobby to deny fact.
Clinton said it all when she said it is impossible to discuss anything with any level of reasonableness when we have this clear subset of neanderthals who refuse to discuss things on an evidence basis, but instead use emotions, denial and conspiracy theories as their frame of reference.

Great post. Clearly, we should remove all the Humvees and troop carriers and replace them with horses and buggies. Much cheaper, and clearly both Humvee, APC and a well reinforced buggy would all do the same job adequately.
Horses are way cheaper to replace than engines anyway, and require far less care and maintenance.... lol
