i believe the correct numbers are .004-.007...i have seen it measured with dial indicators,as well as feeler gauges.
No matter how hard you try...you cant fix stupid!!!

If you build it right...it will turn left!!!

    Try a search on Google.

Usually .004" - .008" depending on what you are doing with the engine.

    - On the small main journal block, the endplay should range between 0.007 and 0.012 inch. On the big main journal block Crankshaft endplay should be 0.004-0.008 inch. Endplay cannot be tightened on this block although you can loosen the endplay by machining the thrust.....In otherwords....008 is fine.

Actually, End play can be adjusted by Building up and remachining the thrust surfaces, if neccessary......

It can be opened up by carefully "sanding" the thrust bearing faces on a piece of 1/4"-3/8" plate glass. Before trying to torque the thrust cap, thunk or pry the crank forward and back to align the cap and the block, then torque, then measure at full range of movement.

    Hope this helps,

That's where plating or welding the thrust surfaces on the crank and regrinding come in, you restore the crank thrust to original dimensions, coupled with the proper bearing and your tolerence is back in spec....

    Hope this clarifies.
