Sweet power steering box ??

Putting a car together and was wondering if the sweet boxes were worth the money,ive never used one in the past,i also noticed they have a 12to1 and several others to coose from
anyone have any info they would like to share on the subject,also who has the best pricing on them,thanks in advance

They are a nice piece and the 6:1 or 8:1 boxes are well worth the money if your not allowed a steering quickener. If you are able to run a quickener I would go that route and save some money. Eric

Loosing the quickener gives you a better feel. The quickener and joints have slop.
The down side is crashing the box and buying another one.

The GM 600 series box is substantially lighter than other stock ones, and we're on our 5th year with it and absolutely no problems.

Not to be confused with the 605 box

The 600 box is the way to go. We had one in the SS, raced it 5 seasons and no problems. I just picked up another one off ebay for 90.00 Its a used CJR box 16 to 1 from a Cup team. I run the 2-1 quickner so it ends up 8-1. Fast but not to twitchy. To get a new 8-1 600 box isnt cheep, but it does take 5 lbs off the front end, and thats hard to do.

Ive got 25 in front of my firewall 90 percent of the time. Its either on the left or right depending on track conditions.

I had 25lbs mounted up by the drivers feet, trying to keep the LF on the ground. But I always build everything as light as i can. I would rather have the option of moving lead around where I want it. As for the 600 steering box, it has proved to be quite a good and reliable piece. Get a used one on Ebay from a cup team. You wont be disappointed with it.

My car had all metric steering components, Pitman, centerlink, and idler arm. Bolts right in. I like the 16 to 1 box with a 2 to 1 quickner comes out at 8 to 1 final. Just put the same exact setup in the new Modified. Used Cup CJR box from E bay, you can get an 8 to 1 box but they are very expensive. You can get the same used box in 16 to 1 for around 100.00. I ran that box for 5 seasons, and this last season was very hard on the steering with encounters into the wall and a 5 time flip. That box is tough as nails, wouldnt run anything else at this point.

8 to 1 final is what I like. Not twitchy in trafic but fast enough to get you out of trouble when your all crossed up, but its a personal choice thing. I would take 12 to 1 over 14 to 1. You can get the box in faster ratios, but the price seems to go up the faster it gets.
