Now there will be absolutely no dirt track coverage at all. At least with Speed there was a little bit and every so often there was a delayed broadcast of some dirt racing.

Don't get me wrong, I think Speed is a poor excuse for racing coverage. But now where there was once a tiny bit of dirt coverage, there will now be nothing.

It's been said a million times and will be said a million more. Television is about making money. In order for television to make money they have to air things that people will watch. It's just that simple.

Even though all of us here would love to see a lot more dirt racing of any kind on TV it can't happen. There just aren't enough people like us who will watch it to make it profitable. So, you won't be seeing much dirt racing on TV but there will be a bunch of NASCAR coverage.

Dirt racing is a tiny sub-culture of auto racing as a whole. Dirt racing may be the end all-be all to many of us but we just aren't strong enough in number to command the kind of coverage NASCAR does.

As much as I hate to say it NASCAR still draws enough viewers (why remains a mystery) to make it profitable to be on TV. All the bullsh!t programs that are part of NASCAR coverage are also profitable and that is the auto racing coverage we'll be seeing 'till that changes.
