Chris Brown Finishes Third in Texas Dirt Track World Championship

Spring, Texas (03/07/13) – Chris piloted his #21 Lone Star Hydro & Maintenance/Hughes/Roush Yates Racing Engine Open Wheel to a third place on Saturday night in the Port-A-Cool Texas World Dirt Track Championship at the Dirt Track at Texas Motor Speedway (Justin, Texas).

It was a doubleheader of action over the weekend for the Chris Brown as he participated in both the P&W Sales SUPR Super Late Model and Open Wheel Modified portions of the annual event.

The weekend began on Friday night in the Open Wheel Modified division as a talented field of more than seventy competitors were on hand for the program. After drawing the ninth starting spot for the fifth heat race Brown rocketed to the heat race win, which locked him into the A-main qualifier in the third starting spot. After battling at the front of the pack for the duration of the preliminary feature Chris finished third behind race winner, Ryan Gustin, and Rodney Sanders to lock into the pole scramble for Saturday night's 40 lap, $3,000-to-win finale. A sixth place finish in the pole scramble resulted in Brown starting sixth in the finale. During the course of the main event he advanced to a third place finish behind race winner, Rodney Sanders, and Ryan Gustin.

In the P&W Sales Southern United Professional Racers (SUPR) event on Saturday night, thirty-nine Super Late Models registered for battle, and Chris drew the sixth starting spot for the first heat race in his #21 Bloomquist/Roush Yates Racing Engine Super Late Model. A sixth to third run in his heat race positioned Brown starting eleventh on the feature grid for the $3,500-to-win finale. Unfortunately an array of mechanical issues would plague Chris in the feature as he was relegated to a seventeenth place finish in the final rundown.

The team will not race anywhere this weekend as they look ahead to a triple header with the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) in their backyard over the course of the March 14th-16th weekend. The weekend will be highlighted by events at RPM Speedway (Crandall, Texas), Ark-La-Tex Speedway (Vivian, Louisiana), and Boothill Speedway (Greenwood, Texas).
