Mike Marlar Registers Pair of Podium Finishes in Weekend Action

Winfield, Tennessee (03/14/13) - It was a doubleheader kind of weekend for Mike Marlar as he piloted his #5b Bryson Motorsports/Rocket/Clements Racing Engine Super Late Model in a pair of events in Tennessee and Georgia, and he registered a pair of podium finishes to show for his efforts.

On Saturday night the annual Shamrock 50 was held at Cleveland Speedway (Cleveland, Tennessee) as a talented field of thirty-nine competitors registered for battle at the 1/3 mile oval, which was prepared perfectly for a night of great racing. The $10,000-to-win, Southern All Stars (SAS) sanctioned event saw Marlar start his night by qualifying fourth fastest in his group to earn the fourth starting spot for his heat race. After advancing to a second place finish in his heat race he locked into the eighth starting spot for the 50 lap finale. In the feature he immediately began marching forward as the race went green and even briefly took over the lead near the race's midway point before settling into a second place finish behind race winner, Randy Weaver. Sunday afternoon found the racing action shifting to Lavonia Speedway (Lavonia, Georgia) for a $5,000-to-win event with the Ultimate Super Late Model Series. With twenty entries in the pits on a bright, sunshine day Mike locked into the third starting spot for the feature via time trials. Unfortunately typical daytime conditions reigned supreme, which made passing extremely difficult. As a result Mike settled for a third place finish behind race winner, Riley Hickman, and Chris Madden. Full results from the events are available at www.UltimateSupers.com .

Due to hauler repairs it appears that Marlar won't be racing anywhere this weekend, although he hasn't ruled out the Spring 50 at Florence Speedway (Union, Kentucky) on Saturday. The next definite plans for the team are a trio of $10,000-to-win, World of Outlaws events that will be held March 22nd-24th at I-30 Speedway (Little Rock, Arkansas), Whynot Motorsports Park (Meridian, Mississippi), and Duck River Speedway (Wheel, Tennessee).
