    Default Bert reverse gear install??

Replacing the reverse idler gear and noticed on the teeth one side is straight and the other has a chamfer on it i would suppose to help engage easier .Which way does the chamfered side go. To the back or front of trans.

The chamfer side goes towards the direction of engagement.

The big gear (the one the starter engages) the chamfer goes towards the starter.

The smaller gear that goes engauges the gear on the motor, the chamfers face the front of the car.

I think the OP is asking about the reverse idler gear, not the starter idler gear

The chamfer on the reverse idler gear faces the front of the transmission.

Wow... I reread the OP, I'm not sure exactly where I got off on the tangent of the starter gear. Sometimes ADD strikes at odd times, typically late at night lol
