Ray Cook Runner-Up at Smoky Mountain; Opens Gates at Tri-County this Weekend!

(BRASSTOWN, NORTH CAROLINA) The Ray Cook Racing team ventured to the Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville, Tennessee on Saturday, March 23 for a $5,000 to win Southern All Stars Dirt Racing Series (SAS) battle. In qualifying, Ray Cook posted the fastest lap in Group B to earn the outside front row starting spot for the 40-lap feature event. After leading the first eight circuits, Ray fought valiantly with eventual winner Jonathan Davenport to regain the point, but was forced to settle for a strong runner-up effort. Full results from the one-day 'Rockin with the Stars 40' program can be viewed online at www.sasdirt.com.

Ray and his #53 team will most likely sit idle over the upcoming March 29-30 weekend, as the Brasstown, North Carolina native will once again put his promoter’s hat on. The Tri-County Race Track in Brasstown will hold their season opener this Friday night, March 29 and Ray will once again be the track promoter for the ’13 campaign. His next scheduled event behind the wheel will be the $4,000 to win Ultimate Super Late Model Series showdown at the North Georgia Speedway in Chatsworth, Georgia on Saturday evening, April 6.
