Ponderosa Speedway Launches Highly Anticipated 2013 Racing Season This Friday April 5

Junction City, KY- March 30, 2013- The time is finally here! Ponderosa Speedway track promoter Larry Yantz and co-promoters Chad and Sarah Yantz are ecstatic to begin the most ambitious racing campaign in the history of the 3/8 mile D-shaped red clay oval better known as “Kentucky’s Baddest Bullring” as the speedplant begins its 41st season of dirt track racing entertainment this Friday night April 5.

The 41st Annual season opening event will take place on Friday evening April 5 featuring a full program of racing action for all five weekly divisions. The Good Neighbor Pharmacy Super Late Models will race for $1,200 to win, Smith Automotive Machine Shop FASTRAK Late Models will race for $600, Bluegrass Drug Store Modifieds will race for $600 to win, D&D Pallet Sportsman will race for $300 to win, and Airport Road Salvage Front Wheel Drives will race for $200. RACEceivers are mandatory in all divisions and racers will need to have them in use every time they are on the racing surface.

The A-Main payoff schedule for the 2013 season opening event on Friday April 5 will be as follows:
-Good Neighbor Pharmacy Super Late Models (25 laps): 1st- $1,200, 2nd- $600, 3rd- $500, 4th- $400, 5th- $350, 6th- $300, 7th- $250, 8th- $200, 9th- $175, 10th- $150, 11th- $125, 12th through 18th- $100 to start.
-Smith Automotive Machine Shop FASTRAK Late Models (20 laps): 1st- $600, 2nd- $350, 3rd- $300, 4th- 250, 5th- $200, 6th- $175, 7th- $150, 8th- $125, 9th- $100, 10th- $85, 11th through 18th- $75 to start.
-Bluegrass Drug Store Modifieds (20 laps): 1st- $600, 2nd- $350, 3rd- $300, 4th- 250, 5th- $200, 6th- $175, 7th- $150, 8th- $125, 9th- $100, 10th- $85, 11th through 18th- $75 to start.
-D&D Pallet Sportsman (15 laps): 1st- $300, 2nd- $200, 3rd- $150, 4th- $125, 5th- $100, 6th- $90, 7th- $80, 8th- $70, 9th- $60, 10th- $55, 11th through 18th- $50 to start.
-Airport Road Salvage Yard Front Wheel Drives (12 laps): (Four or more entries)- 1st- $200, 2nd- $125, 3rd- $100, 4th- $90, 5th- $80, 6th- $70, 7th- $60, 8th- $55, 9th- $50, 10th- $45, 11th through 18th- $40 to start.

Activities for the kickoff event of the 2013 season at Ponderosa Speedway on Friday evening April 5 will see the pit area open at 4:00 p.m., while the general admission area will open at 5:00 p.m. A mandatory drivers meeting will take place at 7:00 p.m., with practice laps set to begin at 7:20 p.m. Bob Allen Motor Mall time trials will commence at 7:45 p.m., with the first race getting the green flag at 8:30 p.m. All times listed are EDT. Ticket prices for the April 5 event in the general admission area will be $12 for adults, $5 for children ages 6-12, while children ages 5 and under are FREE with a paid adult. A pit pass will be $30.

Ponderosa Speedway is located at 365 Phillips Lane on the Boyle/Lincoln County border, outside of Junction City, KY, just minutes from Danville, KY. Larry, Chad, and Sarah Yantz are the track promoters and will present dirt track sports entertainment on Friday evenings from April through mid-October of the 2013 race season.
