With a constant strong wind blowing out of the east right into the faces of the crowd in the grand stands I-35 Speedway ran it's second night of racing for the 2013 season.

Racing was good in all classes with competition for several position in the races, the track was a challenge for the racers as after several days of rain the track was soft and that made for a rough track.
The area in turn #1 is becoming known as, "Johnsons Ridges", track crew worked that part of the track several times trying to get the track to smooth out but each race would made the spot rough and hard to negotiate for the racers.

Don't forget today racing will take place at the other subdivision of Mike Johnson and Don Marrs as Lakeside Speedway will open it's racing season with gates opening at 2:00, racing at 4:00.

On a sadder note, news came to the track last night that Clyde Ellis had passed away that evening. J. D. Green directer of racing at I-35 ask that the flag at the track be lowered to half mask.

We have lost "Mr Racing", Clyde had done so much for the racing community in and around the Kansas City. This very night several cars carried his sponsorship name on them.
To Joan and the rest of his family we can only have say prayers and extend our sympathies as Clyde was a husband, father, and a loved one.
Racing will go on, but it will not be the same or carry the gentle spirit of the man that for so many years left a mark on it.

Here's some IMCA racing from the "Ridges". Enjoy.
