Rick Eckert Looks for Better Luck in WOOLMS Trips to Lavonia and Swainsboro

(YORK, PENNSYLVANIA) The Rick Eckert Racing team rolled into the Volunteer State of Tennessee on April 26-28 for a trio of $10,000 to win World of Outlaws Late Model Series clashes. On Friday night at the Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville, Rick Eckert timed in eighth quickest in Group B during qualifying and later finished third in his heat race. After starting the 50-lap feature event from the outside of the sixth row, Rick was all the way up to sixth before breaking an axle on lap 38. The York, Pennsylvania star was unable to complete the race and wound up eighteenth in the final finishing order.

Following a rain-out at the bad-fast Tazewell Speedway in Tazewell on Saturday, the #24 team wrapped up their weekend on Sunday at the Duck River Raceway Park in Wheel. Rick posted the fifth fastest lap during time trials and later took the win in his loaded heat race. After drawing the pole position for the 50-lapper, Rick was running a strong third on lap 47 when all three frontrunners were involved in a wreck with a lapped car. "Scrub" was able to complete all fifty circuits, but was relegated to a disappointing twelfth place performance. Rick now finds himself fourth in the latest version of the WOOLMS point standings. The Rick Eckert Racing team will follow the World of Outlaws Late Model Series to the Peach State of Georgia on May 3-4 for two more $10,000 to win affairs. A trip to the historic Lavonia Speedway in Lavonia, Georgia is up first on Friday night, while the doubleheader weekend will conclude on Saturday evening at the Swainsboro Raceway in Swainsboro, Georgia.
