The Yantz Family Now Own Ponderosa Speedway; Next Race is Set for Friday May 17

Junction City, KY- May 9, 2013- Ponderosa Speedway now officially has new owners as current promoter Larry Yantz, along with current co-promoters, son and daughter-in-law Chad and Sarah Yantz, are now the owners of the historic 3/8 mile D-shaped red clay oval better known as “Kentucky’s Baddest Bullring” as of Thursday afternoon.

Previous track owner Kevin Colston informed the Yantz family around mid-week of his intentions as he and his family are wanting to pursue some other interests outside of racing and an agreement was reached earlier today (Thursday) that will see the Yantz family assume ownership of the track and the Yantz family would like to wish Mr. Colston the best of luck in his future endeavors.

However, due to wet grounds from heavy rains earlier in the week and the forecast for more rain at various times throughout the day on Friday, the racing program for May 10 has been cancelled.

With the Yantz family now taking ownership of the track, they want all competitors and spectators to know that the payouts and divisions that have been in action will remain the same. However, there will some adjustments to the remainder of the racing schedule and those will be released as soon as possible.

Ponderosa Speedway will return to action on Friday May 17 with the 3rd Annual Weekend Warrior 30 that will pay $800 to win for the D&D Pallet Recyclers Sportsman division, along with a full racing program for the Good Neighbor Pharmacy Super Late Models, Bluegrass Drug Store Modifieds, Smith Automotive Machine Shop FASTRAK Late Models, and Airport Road Salvage Yard Four Cylinders.

The next big event for the Good Neighbor Pharmacy Super Late Models comes up on Friday May 24 and will be the Spring Showdown, paying $3,000 to win, along with a full program of racing for the Bluegrass Drug Store Modifieds, Smith Automotive Machine Shop FASTRAK Late Models, D&D Pallet Recyclers Sportsman, and Airport Road Salvage Yard Four Cylinders.

Ponderosa Speedway is located at 365 Phillips Lane on the Boyle/Lincoln County border, outside of Junction City, KY, just minutes from Danville, KY. Larry, Chad, and Sarah Yantz are the track promoters and will present dirt track sports entertainment on Friday evenings from April through mid-October of the 2013 race season.
